Get me started: dynamic delete galleries that start with 2007 or 2008

I'm sure this can be done in JS but need someone to point me in the right direction. The problem is that I need to allow users to see "all" "2007" or "2008" photos. The heirarchy of my site is that in can fairly easily establish a naming convention that all subject gallery titles begin with "2007" or "2008" in their title. So I should be able to do a "get document by class" type of thing and remove those references that have the correct string according to the user selection.

You don't have to do the whole job, just get me started with the correct YUI calls and structure. I'll figure out the little stuff.

This would satisfy a more generally stated question that never draws any answers.
