Most Wanted Lenses.

Now we all know Canon, and Nikon, Have especially large lens lineups, especially compared to some of the 3rd party manufacturers, but with all that in mind, which lenses would you like to see produced by your prospective 'brand' maker in the next few years; ie, what is your most wanted list.

I'll start with mine,

Nikkor AF-S 17-55mm F/2.8 VR

Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 AF (or AF-S)

A new 58mm f/1.2 Noct Nikkor.

Yours?

Maybe no one wants new lenses on smugmug? ;P.

I'd like Nikon to take its VR budget and spend it on (good) glass . . .

The two that come to mind first:
    AF-S 400 f/5.6
    AF-S 35 f/1.4

    Did you hear that Canon?

As for everything else, I'd love to see some dream lenses. How about a 70mm f1.8L, and a 150 TS-E (Macro dream).

I like this, but I would add IS. Maybe they could do like they did with the 70-200 and produce two lenses, one with and the other without the IS?thumb.gif

    Nikon 17-55 f/2.8

Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 (with a D300 sized full frame body to go along with it... ;))
    Nikon 24-70 f/2.8

    Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 or Tamron 10-24 f/3.5-4.5

A circular fisheye like the one Sigma announced a few months ago.

The only ones I will probably actually get is the 17-55 or the Tokina 11-16 or Tamron 10-24 depending on when they come out and how much they are.

If Nikon comes out with a more affordable full framed body the 14-24mm will be ordered along with it. (I <3 wide angles!)

Re: I just wanted to clarify, I was thinking of lenses us smugmuggers would like to see made that did not exist yet, or needed to be updated; not necessarilly what already exists, but Its very interesting seeing all the different needs of the cornucopia of photographers on this forum; I really hope Canon or Nikon are watching (and or your favorite brand, lol).

Could you imagine 500mm at 1.2? That'd be like having a small sliver of reality and the rest of the universe is nothing but deep bokeh.

Since I have not yet exhausted what I want from their current offerings, nothing much that can be done really.

It would be nice to somehow magically have the 24-70 and 70-200 be available in f1.8 or faster without needing a wheelbarrow full of money, then a sherpa to carry it.

Yes! Definitely a Canon 24-105 2.8L IS, I could work with that, if it can be done without sacrificing quality, might be nice to also have a little more room on the wide end, maybe make it 18-105.

Also, a 100mm 2.8 IS Macro would be cool, I believe that IS could be really useful while doing macro work.

And of course I have to mention this one, not that I expect we will ever see it...

The 1-100000mm 1.0L IS, and don't forget, It needs to be lightweight.:giggle
