I recently took a motorcycle trip to Big Bend NP, and on the way stopped in Alamo City. This is where John Wayne filmed the movie "The Alamo". Hundred's of movies have been filmed there since. It was an interesting place to visit.

    Nice images...
Where is Alamo City in relation to san Antonio or Austin?

It's West of San Antonio by 132 miles, or 40 miles East of Del Rio, TX. I should mention that it cost $11.50 to visit.

As we were driving there, I kept asking, "why did John Wayne pick this location to build the set?".

There is also another movie set just down the road of an old west town. Here are a few shots from there.
