The pedestrian paths on both sides of the Thames and over its bridges are a pleasure. The river is integrated into the life of the city.

People use the esplanade as a sort of glorified park, to escape briefly from the city.

Sometimes the city crowds the river very closely.

There are offices, private clubs, and restaurants that open directly onto the public walk. The boundry between private and public spaces is very thin.

Sometimes, perhaps too thin for the people on the other side.

Here is the reception desk of City Hall, which is directly set on the river.

I loved the variety of river scenes as all along the path. Sometimes there is only a glimpse.

The bridges frame the famous vistas.

And then there are places where you can sit and look into infinity.

I love how the river sets off London's wonderful architecture, both ancient and modern.

If not now, when?
