I finally got my lenses for my Japan trip next week. Needless to say I was pretty interested in trying a company so endorsed by Dgrin and as far as delivery and communication go, I could not ask for more!

It was killing me last night having come home from work and seeing the slip from the postman stuck on my door. I knew that the glass was sitting in a box not two blocks away at the post office and I couldn't get them until the morning. :D

Borrowlenses is my official Tokyo "sponsor." Stay tuned, cuz the Journeys forum will soon be flooded... :giggle

Oooo...we've never been a sponsor before without having to pay an arm and a leg for it - we'll take it! I am also glad that all you found when you got home was a postman's slip and not the lenses themselves. Although we required direct signature, some postmen decide it's a good idea to leave 3k worth of glass in front of somebody's door - don't get me started on that subject.

Enjoy the trip and if you want to bring us back something, i am very impartial to hamachi and uni.

    Hey Max How about a 600mm F4
I could realy use a 600mm f/4 to be shipped to me in Kodiak, Ak. next August for a week. Any plans to handle the big Nikon prime stuff? If so let me know so I can reserve with you well in advance.

Sure we can send it to you. No need to place an order that far out, but we should not have a problem. Shipping prices also change (FedEx is increasing by 6% for example starting Jan 1) so we can get you an exact quote when the time gets closer.

Great, I didn't see this lens in your inventory on your site. Which model do you or will you stock and how early do you recomend I reserve it?

    Albert,

    It's already listed here: http://www.borrowlenses.com/category/canon_super_tele

Probably 2-3 months out is how much youwould need on the far side. This thing does not rent all that well because of its bulk and price, so I doubt you would have any trouble with the reservations.

I rented from this folks back in October and their service was great. The lenses were in perfect condition and the shipping back and forth was extremely easy and hassle free. Their prices are extremely reasonable. I look forward to doing business with them in the future.

Harry, thanks for compliments and I am glad you enjoyed our service. We just picked up the 1Ds III (http://www.borrowlenses.com/product/canon_bodies/1Ds_MkIII), the D300 (http://www.borrowlenses.com/product/nikon_bodies/Nikon_d300) and the Nikon 200-400 (http://www.borrowlenses.com/product/nikon_super_tele/Nikon_200-400) if anyone is interested in crappy product like that :).

Rented me a 24-70mm. Two day shipping from the West coast to the East coast. Great communication. Lens looks like it is new. Time to take it out for a "test drive."

Glad you like the lens. I don't think it's actually new, but definitely up there. We did spray wit with canned new lens smell for you though. :)

Awww...thanks for the warm words, guys. Also, thank you to both for being two of our loyal customers.

I've been meaning to ask this - is there anything SmugMuggers would like to see on our site in terms of inventory that they don't know now?

    Thanks!

If I can afford a Yellowstone trip this fall I'll be booking the 200-400VR and hoping you'll have the 600 by then.....

    Bill

P.S. And how about an East Coast branch so we don't get hosed by FedEx?

    Bill,

Well we already have the 200-400 and a D3 is on its way :) The 200, 400, and 600 primes are a little bit harder to justify, but we'll see if we can squeeze that in the budget.

East Coast branch is kinda hard to set up...I get shivers just thinking of the logistics there.

Thanks for the feedback! Looking forward to your rental...

Customer service is top notch! When it comes to renting pro equipment, ONLY BorrowLenses.com comes to mind.

On two ocassions I rented some equipment and they for some reason did not have it in stock (late return, no returned from renters, etc..) they upgraded me for free to the next best thing. You cant get mad for a free upgrade.

One thing, do take care of their equipment or at least make sure you have insurance in force.

Any chance of you keeping non Can-Nikon bodies like the K20D, E-3 etc., so the mainstream guys can figure out, "whats all the fuss about"

Hey Max, I notice you guys rent out memory cards, too. Do you zero the data out each time? I'm not sure about any legal implications but it'd sure be a nice gesture.

Hmmm...very interesting point. We do check the memory cards to make sure they are clean for the next customer, but we dont' do military grade format of them. We'll have to look into an automated way of doing that. You have any quick and simple ideas?

    Vote For The Nikon 200mm & 600mm
Let me add my vote for the Nikon 200mm f/2 - I want to try this lens out so bad, ....

Also, I would think the new 600 mm f/4 would be big also - receiving rave reviews.

Let's see, those two lenses would be around $13,000; I can see where your break even point would be out there ...

But, please keep all these requests in mind.
