experienced fisheye 5d users pls help

k, i have never used a fisheye, i was think on renting one...but heck id rather just apply that cost to one i own.
problem is i dont know what i want.

i have a canon 5d.

does anyone have an example photos to show me a fisheye on a 5d
that is 15mm or 10mm or 8mm? so i can see the differences in effect?
there is a difference in effect right??

heck any examples would be good to see...

im thinking a sigma 8mm but do i what that much?
will a canon 15mm do me fine?...im just not sure

my main subjects will be plants & flowers in the deserts, canyons, & mountains.

i need to get one asap. pls help:D

What I am thinking is... how much is the rental place charging you if the daily fee is too steep to make answering those questions worth it?

There is a fisheye thread here with some examples of the 5D with the 15mm (and others.) I love having a fisheye available for portraits, landcsapes, whatever.

I think I have to agree with schmoo on this one. Rent a copy of the candidates and take them for a spin. This, IMO, would be a good investment. Much better than attempting to rely on the opinion of others as to which lens will best suit your intended work, subject matter, effects, etc. Only you can see in your mind's eye what you would like to accomplish.

thanks for pointing out yet another thread i have missed

as for renting, it seems to me it would be close to $50 for one week insured/shipped & returned...
i would rather just put that toward a purchase....

i know what you mean about whats in my minds eye, im just not going to spend $150, $200 in rentals just to test....
after seeing several photos its seems they all do what i want...

maybe i will just rent one, heck i dont know.....i just need to hurry up and decide...

On a 5D, the 15mm fish has a 180 degree field of view corner to corner. Here's a shot capturing 180 degrees of horizon.

Depending on how you frame a shot it can look very fishy:

Or more like a hyper-wide:

On a 5D, the 15mm is the widest fish which completely covers the sensor.

you have pointed out that the 15mm is a good fit for 5d FF sensor, now that concern is washed away, thanks

and judging by your photos (which are 5-star) they really show me what im looking for.
