nice series! I like how you have captured that other tiny bug in #1. I've just been getting into this kinda stuff and it seems like you are getting quite a bit bigger dof than me (see my last post in this forum).. How can I get this? How far do I close down the aperture?

    Absolutely incredible!!

    What lens are you using?
How are you getting so much DOF?
    Aloha!

    Thanks for the comments :)

Taken using an MPE-65 lens which does from 1:1 to 5:1 without additions. I don't tend to shoot smaller than F11 at 1:1 to avoid diffration softening- most of these shots were wider than that as I was using Tv mode. The DOF in some is exaggerated by me using focus stacking.

Once again Brian a real pleasure to look at. The clarity in them all is really first class.

Reeflections - no I don't like doing things like that- kinda cheating. Will admit doing it once to a wasp a few years ago.

Some shots of hoverflies taken under light cloudy conditions.

    Brian V.

I've seen very few Hover Fly's around here lately Brian,
maybe because we are heading into Winter.

Missed an opportunity to shoot a Praying Mantis the other night ne_nau.gif
heard this almighty banging on the sliding door, looked out,
and here's the cat climbing up the flywire door eek7.gif

I turned the light on and about 6 inches in front of her is a baby Praying Mantis running up the door,
and she was trying her darn hardest to catch it rolleyes1.gif

So I lifted the cat off the door, went back out and caught the Mantis,
and let it go in a small plant off the deck, away from the cat :D

It was way too late to be thinking about taking photos.

Another great series Brian ... thanks for sharing thumb.gif ... Skippy :D
