Hi all,

The wife and I took a 13 day trip on Cunard's Queen Elizabeth 2 from Los Angeles to New York. I took over 1300 images and it has taken me a bit over one week to get everything processed. This is the reason I haven't been around.

So lets take a few minutes and do a photo slideshow.

The bow of the QE2 in Los Angeles harbor.

We released baby Sea Turtles in Acapulco.

The one and only QE2

Proving that 4 people can fit comfortably in a inside cabin.

The funnel.

Sunset off the pacific. I entered this one in photo contest aboard the ship and got honorable mention.

The Panama Canal.

The crowds I had to fight.

Approaching the bridge in Gatun lake.

Not much clearance on the cargo ships. We only had 30 inches on each side of us.

River rafting on the Martha Brae in Jamaica.

We even went airboat riding in the Florida Everglades.

Sailing into New York

Fog hit hard in New York. The infamous funnel passing under the Verazanno (sp?) bridge.

QE2 at Pier 92 in NYC. Our trip had come to an end.

I had to show you the other photo I entered in the photo contest. This one won.

Thanks for enjoying our trip with us. Can't wait to go back again.

    Wow!

I saw a bit on the making of QE2 and I was impressed by the design of the ship.
That whole funnel thing was interesting too.

    Thanks everyone.

These are more my vacation snapshots than anything else. I really didn't work as hard as I normally do or should have on this trip. I was too busy enjoying myself and soaking up that last true Atlantic liner.

    Dude...

    282483636_sndJx-L.jpg

    I mean...dude.

    Whoa.

This image rocks. I was never attracted to the idea of a cruise until I saw the show about the building of this ship. And now I've seen your photos. Yup, I'm kinda jealous. Good job managing to remember to take pictures in the midst of that saturated palette of distractions!

    Peace,

Thanks. It was just a polarizer. I hate using them because it requires some extra work. This was the only time I used it on the whole trip.

What program is everyone watching about building the ship? I didn't think there was such program about the QE2. I know there is one about the QM2, but that is the younger sister. Can anyone give me a title?

    Thanks

You're right. The program I saw (don't know title either) was on the QM2, which has been afloat only a few years. Sorry for the confusion. Doesn't detract from your journey in the least (I'm still jealous!).

And the success of your photo I think is more than just a polarizer! I find the composition spectacular: almost abstract while still clearly showing what it is and making it look like, well, like I want to be there! Just really cool. thumb.gif
