Can't you just accept payment for us?

I'm just curious: As a pro account holder, I'm curious about this..

Since we now have digital downloads in place and, Smugmug is accepting the payment for the digital download and taking care of the rest (so to speak) why then can't Smugmug simply allow payments for ANYTHING we want to sell?

Why do I ask?

Ok, let's say I want to setup a gallery of notecards and sell them for 3.99 (real notcards like the 5 x 7 kind). The customer should be able to click on a shopping cart button (just as they can now) that says Buy or Buy Product, accept the payment, and allow the pro to ship the product to the customer on our own.

This would avoid us having to set up alternative payment like paypal buttons or google buy buttons and.

It's so simple, it's beyond simple. Just allow the customer to make a payment the same way they are making a payment to you NOW in the digital download shopping card, display the image of the product being ordered (like they do now anyway) and we produce and ship the product to the customer.

Whataya say, Smugmug?

OK 1) a UI 2) database schema and places for you to put your stuff 3) a way for you to describe your stuff 4) a mechanism for us to have that "stuff" in the shopping cart 5) order emails 6) shipping emails 7) card charges 8) SmugMug Guarantee on a non-SmugMug Item 9) tracking 10) reporting 11) payment to pros.

    Of course, you can do it already with Google or Paypal shopping carts.. I do it for my printer calibration service. http://www.wolfsnap.com/color

    But, for photographic purchases, having it right in the shopping cart would be amazingly cool. :)
