Nastya - a friend of mine asked me to make some photos for her.
As you might know I dont like all these flashes - I prefer natural light. But: 1.
The photo must be taken near the piano. 2. No Natural light in the hall.
So I took Sony R1, Sony F32 flash a reflector, remote control and...

What can I say - I continue 'dont liking all these flashes...'

    Hello Yuri!!

First, I have admired your beautiful portraiture since my first glimpse. Thank you for inspiring us all!!

As for this set of photographs,

I am not a fan of the lighting in #s 1, 2, 5, and 6. It appears here that the light source was located fairly straight on to your beautiful (aren't they always) model. It appears especially harsh in numbers 1, 2, and 6. Of these four photos, number 5 appears to have a much better control of lighting even though the source is still straight on to her from the direction of the camera. Great job on #5.

The remainder of the set are, of course, beautiful. This really shows a good example of how much side-lighting can improve the appearance of portraits...giving them a nice shaping, and shadows to compliment the light. Very nice. I especially am drawn to #7. Very dramatic.

Thank you for sharing once again!

Do you have anything to modify the flash?
I really like 1, 4, and 5. My favorite is #7! B&W is usually not my first choice.

3, 4, and 7 work well for me. It's a shame about the flare in 7, though.

I really like 4 & 7. On 4 I can't help but think a little tighter crop might be in order, possibly a shorter aspect ratio (8x10 or so). I guess it depends on if the piano is part of the subject or context for the shot. I happen to LOVE the flare in 7.

    Very nicely done.

3,4 & 7 are my favorite. Incidently those are ones I don't see a flash on. I love the subtle look of the images. Great job...but I don't ever expect any less from you. Your work is always beautiful.
