Question on problems with my domain name and smugmug acct.

I have a pro acct through SmugMug (kbell.smugmug.com), and also have registered a separate domain name (kbellphotography.com) through Joker.com.
The only way to log on under my domain name, is you must type in the www. first.

Why do I have to type in the www. first :dunno, and any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.

My understanding is that if you create an A Record in your domain record at the domain registrar and point it to 63.81.134.23, which is SmugMug's IP, people won't have to type the www anymore. But it will work with or without the www.
