Simple CS3 question, viewing at 33% looks "choppy"

How come when I look at photos in photoshop at say 33% size, it looks horrible. I'm used to editing in iPhoto, where even in fit to screen it looks good.

Is this a setting or just something I have to deal with?

This is an artifact of how the data is displayed on your monitor, and has nothing to do with how the image will look in print.

Even ratios, 100%, 50% or even 200% will look much sharper and smoother than images displayed at 33% or 66% or 133% on your video monitor. Even iPhoto images look better at some sizes than others on my Mac.

i understand that, but even viewing and editing things at fit-to-screen size is just distracting to me. in iPhoto and even LIghtroom i think....it looks fine as if I really resized it.

oh yeah, and its only on like 33%...not 25 or 50% or 75%

just curious if this is something I have to live with.

Evenness is not the criterion, as 12.5% and 25% will look good, too.

correct seems fine at 12.5, 25, 50, 100, 200 stinks that iPhoto can do this fine while editing but PS can't

, I just did not list them all.

And yes, we all have to live with it ( so to speak ). I just have not felt it was that big an issue personally.

I presume that the zoom/scroll effect mentioned in the original post that is found on OS X in Apple Preview and iPhoto is what the new CS4 will be doing.
