Things are pretty slow the past couple days(not other sites). What I really want to figure out is the auto sort function. I have my images numbered 1-700 something and hit auto sort by file name. after it sorts them they are in the most random order possible. Thanks for the help!

Sorry to hear your having connectivity issues with SmugMug. Can you run a couple tests for us?

    Go here:
    http://smugmug.speedtest.net

We are the Yellow San Jose pyramid. Please let us know what the results are.

Would you mind running a line quality test for us? You go here:
    http://www.dslreports.com/linequality
Sign up and run the test. Registration there is free. After you run the test, copy the link to the results for us. That will let us know if there is an issue with the line preventing photos from arriving to our servers. Email us the link to the results when you get them or post them here.

The problem with your file numbering is that we sort left justified. What that means is that we sort by the first character in the filename. For example:

    1
    10
    100
    2
    20
    200

You would need to name these files like this in order to have them sort correctly:

    001
    002
    010
    020
    100
    200

Its not even doing it like that, that I could make sense of. let me try the speed tests.

I thought the Internet Hamsters were getting tired too.

Where is that ping back tool y'all have? I had a few problems between 7 and 930 CDT but wrote it off to tired beasts.

    Hi CJ,

I've had a look at your line quality test and it does show trouble. You have 2% packetloss, and your ping times are all over the place, going up into the hundreds, then back to double digits. These should all be consistent, and have 0% loss anywhere.

This indicates a noisy line which can be caused by a number of things, from a bad router, modem, interferrence on a wireless LAN, bad cable, bad line into the house, etc.

First, you should start by powering down all of your equipment, including router and modem and leaving it off for a couple of minutes. Power everything back up, and run the test again, and check for slow speeds. If the problem continues, you need to make this info available to your ISP, as there's not a lot we're able to do for equipment and connection troubles. Your ISP has the diagnostic tools to pinpoint where the trouble is, and they're also responsible for providing you a clean, reliable connection for your subscription dollar.

Let us know if you need us to look at another line quality test after the reboot, or if there's anything else we can do to help.
