Galleries within a Gallery

I sure don't understand some of the terminology here as a first time user and I've searched for the answer. Let's say you open my home page and you see several Galleries. Pick one, Birds for example. When one opens that Gallery I want the viewer to see several more Galleries within they can click on for example Shore Birds, Raptors etc. I don't want all the birds shown in one Gallery but broken down into several categories.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

You're right, this is a terminology issue.

You have 3 levels of organization available to you:
    categories >>> subcategories >>> galleries
A gallery contains photos and is at the lowest level of organization.

You can do what you want by creating a category of Birds. You can create subcategories within the Birds category. So your Shore birds, and raptors would be subcategories. Then you would assign the gallery to the appropriate category and subcategory.

If you're going to go this route, I'd recommend that you set your site so that it displays by category and not by gallery - http://www.smugmug.com/help/arrange-albums.
