What's wrong with the uploader?

I have tried (and retried) multiple times to upload a set of photos through the web interface and every time I get these random lines in many of the photos.

Like this one:

Somehow, the process is corrupting the original (and yes, I've checked the originals that I'm uploading!)

Smugmug help?.......no response. So I'm throwing it out here. Any thoughts?

This has become much more of a chore than I anticipated.

Hi, looks like line quality / lost packets to me. Would you mind running a line quality test for us? You go here:
    http://www.dslreports.com/linequality
Sign up and run the test. Registration there is free. After you run the test, copy the link to the results for us. That will let us know if there is an issue with the line preventing photos from arriving to our servers. Post the link to the results when you get them.

I'm checking for your emails at the help desk right now, it's most unusual for you to get 'no response' sorry!

    Found the email.

Here's the link to the results:

Looks OK to me. I'll try the legacy uploader.

    Cool!

    Well,

    ex2-tg4-0.eqnwnj.sbcglobal.net 0% 60 60 0.94 1.02 1.27
    5 dist1-g1-2.chcgil.ameritech.net 5%

is 5% packet loss and I'm 100% certain that can cause the issue :(

EDIT: I'm suspecting corruption of data along the way, as the cause. We don't see this happen much, at all. What's the result of your new upload?

Seems to have worked on the 3 files I uploaded, but I haven't had time to look at them closely. Of course, the problem wasn't on 2 or 3 files, but on a big upload. I also had problems when trying the Lightroom plug-in, with your system kicking back error messages (which are logged as errors in my account over the last week). Not sure if that stems from the same issue or not?

It could be related. Could you run a traceroute to SmugMug? Try these instructions to run a traceroute on a PC:
    http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/2959046
That will help us see if and where any problems may be.

Also run a reverse trace. Go here:
    http://www.smugmug.com/homepage/traceroute.mg
You will see the results on your screen and also receive an email with the results that you can send to us.

You best send us the results to the help desk and we'll go from there.

    Thanks,
    Sebastian
