    Yes, it is the idea.
Unfortunately, your image, while being a nice and clean abstract one, doesn't give enough visual clues to understand what we're looking at, and, therefore, direction of the shot. Let's try wider angle (to incorporate some context) or a different, more easily recognizable, subject.

I know, but can you tell if it's 90 or 60 degrees up?

    Dam that's tall
Looking up the tower at one of the local dams. The gauge on the tower starts at 32 feet and goes up to 113 feet.

    Nice image! thumb.gif
I wouldn't call it straight up though, since you're obviously angling. It's more like a VP entry, IMHO.

I was near the base but really liked the picture. This one is probably more what you are looking for.

    Clouds Straight Up
Received a text message around 5:30 pm today from one of my sons: "The clouds are great. Take pictures."

After posting both of these, I went back to see what others have entered. Some great images here!

    Nice straightups, esp. sycamore!
Clouds are lovely, but unless you're shooting fisheye it's hard to get the concept through... You need some yardstick so to speak

I took this shot the same day as the one of the sycamore - two days ago. Does the frame of the leaves of the surrounding trees provide the necessary yard stick?
