I rode with Grimace and Gluwater through Nebraska, Colorado, NM, then to Utah....because I didn't make the "list" had to fly home from Grand Junction while the other lucky saps continued on for most likely, lots of "ooooh babies". In any case...here are some shots from the insane 3200 mile trip in 7 days. No sleep to speak of and lighting was tough at times.

#1 (Aztec Ruins, New Mexico)

    Holy cow!

I was getting texts from gluwater through the week about your "ruined" sunrises and such but I doubted him then and I certainly doubt it now seeing your shots. What an amazing, amazing collection of shots from some truly beautiful places!! bowdown.gif

Sorry we couldn't see you in Moab! You really could have taught me a thing or two about landscaping, for sure. eek7.gif

It was nice to meet you at Canyon De Chelly even if it was for only a few minutes.

Hope we can shoot together in the future.

Maybe up near Maroon Bells? There were a lot of good aspen up in that area that were still at peak.

    now for the scolding...:thwak

you made it that far and didnt think to dump those shootout bums off in GJ get over here to ST.George to go out shooting with me? shame on you, that will be three lashings....and no soup for you!

    oh and #1bowdown.gif

Aaron...I apologize...the whole time I was wondering where St. George was while traveling by Moab....on the way to the airport no less. Since I wasn't driving, there wasn't much say on my part.....but I seriously intend on coming out next fall. With proper planning, there are some serious wall hangers to get out that way as it depends on the light and all.....Maroon Bell is a place I'd like to nail....as well as a few others. Thanks for the lashing and nice comments. We will find time to shoot together...hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks Aaron. I was really hoping to spend some time with you guys but things never worked out (they rarely do it seems). Looking forward to seeing your shots. I hear you went climbing too.....heh....I'd shoot you doing that crazy stuff but you'll never get me up there...Laughing.gif

Thankie Schmoo! Yea, Gluwater had that IPhone attached to his navel and was watching him send stuff to you then take shots with it then uploading to Smuggy...way too funny. That guy really knows his electronics...Laughing.gif. Was fun..but quite honestly, if we had the "right" light..then we'd show you some incredible "OoOOoooooh Babies" :D Thanks so much for the kind words.

Thanks James! So glad you like them. As you know, it takes a bit of work in PP to get the look cause the camera can't capture the essence of the beauty most times.....even then...some of the scenes were quite majestic and I thought, "Crap, now how am I supposed to capture that"...Laughing.gif:D

Simply amazing. thumb.gif I wish we would have seen something like that!

    Great Captures.

Did your trip Cali too? It seems 6,7, and 8 are from the Sierras (Sierra for those in the know). Amazing similarities.

Awesome images, Swartzy. Really inspiring work. bowdown.gif

Too bad we missed you at the shootout. Pity is that there were actually a couple of no-shows, so there would have been room if you'd attended. If there was a single suggestion I would make for the next shootout it would be to find a way to eliminate the waste caused by these inconsiderate no-shows who don't bother canceling their spots.

    Cheers,

Thanks Joel! Yes, I certainly would have foregone the plane ticket to stay for the extra days since I was right there. Looks like you all had a great time.

Thanks Chris. The ruins were a bit tough but as I look through LR there may be one or two more to work on...nothing with that sky though but some artistic stuff.

Those ruins are tough, but you did an awesome job capturing them... I can't wait to go back with my dSLR and new techniques I've learned!
