Some shots in and around Portland from last weekend (including the Portland Japanese Garden, Hoyt Arboretum, and Columbia River Gorge).

#13 (leaves and trees aren't the only thing in Washington Park, there's also a zoo! It's not actually possible for me to be shooting near a zoo without ultimately going into the zoo...)

Very nice pictures. I would prefer to see the pic of Multnomah Falls a bit more level, but still a nice shot.

Very nice work ! The colors are bit over the top for my taste but

Thanks! It actually is level, it's just not straight :D The bridge is neither perpendicular to the horizon nor to the waterfall (it's slightly askew), kind of hard to tell from this shot, but the pool of water beneath is level (or close enough to pass my low standards anyway). The waterfall is a little more centered than I would have preferred (I would have liked it shifted to the right a bit), I was trying to get the plant in the foreground and not paying as much attention to the main subject I guess. Also those greens would have looked better if it was wet.

Thanks Dwayne! #9 I went intentionally crazy with the color (enough that my eyes are a little sore looking at it as the reds are blown out, I kind of liked it anyway though). I also played with the colors on #3 and a little bit with #2, the rest are pretty much as they were in the camera with a little levels and/or curves adjustments. I've also noticed that the colors look pretty bad on my monitor at work (they look OK on my OS X laptop and my Windows computer at home), I should pay attention to color management but because I've never done any prints it's just something I haven't worried about much.

Love the series. I particularly like #2, #3, and #12. The colors and textures in the first two are beautiful. I like the serenity in #12 and the way the leaves are somewhat obscured by the water flow.

    Hi Ron,

I find this grouping very appealing. #3 and #9 really strike my fancy. Very well done.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Nice shots! My favs are 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12 and (of course) 13. What focal length was used for the bear shot?

    Regards,
    Mike

Thanks! That shot was at 100mm (shot with a 100-400 lens), f/4.5, ISO 640, 1/1000. It was shot through glass which is how I was able to get that close at 100mm.
