Weekly Assignment #98: Learning The Ropes

For this assignment your primary subject should be a rope, or several of them if you must. Rich texture, gracious curves, intrinsic knots call for very interesting images!
Multiple images OK as long as they are substantially different. Fresh images only, moderate-to-medium post-processing.
Let's learn the ropes!

Rope is pretty good subject matter, this is all I have on hand at the moment. Id like to find some really large rope to shoot.

I found these at the beach today. I never shot ropes before, it's interesting.

Never thought it would be so hard to find some interesting ropes. Should have just went down to Home Depot. headscratch.gif

Over Thanksgiving weekend I went back to Chincoteague Island, VA to shoot a rusted out fishing boat that I had seen over the summer. Got there and they were half-way finished dismantling her. Remembered your rope assignment, so I didn't come away completely empty handed.

Have had this one in mind for a while, but the snow was covering the rope outside.

I think it would be even better if you crop out the upper part of the image and left only the bottom, with the rope...

I had thought about a tighter crop once I got it online. figured I would see what you thought this way first.

It was. I was in Cleveland and Kodak took us on a boat ride. When I started boarding I saw the ropes tying the boat to the dock and said "Hey, I can use this for the assignment"
