    Excellent series. It would be better if you gave some EXIF data as to what you shot with, and how you shot it.

    Thanks Guys.

    The series was shot handheld with a D3, 70-200 VR and TC-1.4II.
    Most were shot at 280mm, f4, ISO 560, 1/400, -0.3.

    These are WAY cool!

    Shooting hockey I know what challenge the lights can bring, but these shots are spot on and right up close. And of course you include the crowd fav Ohno! Horray!

    Thanks for all the positive comments everyone. I really appreciate it. This was an excellent event. Kinda hard not to get great shots with so much talent on the ice. I'm glad everyone enjoyed the shots. I'll try and get a little time over the next few days to get a few more Ohno shots posted since folks were looking for them.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

    I'm planning to shoot at least one more speed skating World Cup and 2-3 FIS World Cups over the next few months. I'm really looking forward to the FIS aerials. :D I'll be sure to post a few shots after those events.

    Great shots as usual Tom!! :)

    Just curious, on your reply about EXIF, you said that you dialed in -0.3 exposure comp? What metering are you using (matrix, spot, or center)?

    From shooting hockey, I would have thought that you would have to dial in a positive exposure comp. to keep the camera from trying to make the ice 18% gray? I know when I shot hockey in aperture priority, I used +.7 or +1 EC.

    Again, great shots, and hopefully I'll see you in Milwaukee at the end of January! :)

    I was spot metering at this event. My focus is getting the skaters faces properly exposed. I fix the ice in post. I know that's pretty different from what lots of other folks might do, but it seemed to yeild the most consistent and workable outcome for post. Also, it's important to note that the media lighting at this venue is different than most of the normal ice rinks, so my setting were different than I would use for dungeon lighting venue like the Petitt.
