Re: Photography and Computers
Art, how would you manage if your laptop hit the ground at a wedding and killed the HD? Your warranty certainly wouldn't replace your images. I'm not trying to be a smartaxx, but merely trying to make you and others think about the "what if's". I've been a photographer for 40+yrs and have used computers since '87. In this… -
Weekly Assignment #87: Art of Noise
No I didn't mean hunting down and shooting the members of popular 80ies band... For this round we're going to take the pictures with the maximum amount of noise possible with the intention to incorporate the said noise as an important part of the final image. Grundge and macabre naturally come to mind, but don't stop just… -
Re: I blew up a mazda miata today... literally.
well maybe I should clarify... "WE" blew up a car. There was some effects guys there that put sand bag charges in the front seats that blew the hard top clean off the car, and the rest is straight up 87 octane gasoline. There were pans in the front seats, and one behind each of the front tires. Each pans had an electical… -
Re: Camera straps for women?
Similar to what Andy suggests, the Op/Tech "Dual Harness" seems to be reasonably well engineered to work around breasts. The front chest strap can be removed for even more comfort, but attached for extra security. http://optechusa.com/product/detail/?PRODUCT_ID=87&PRODUCT_SUB_ID=&CATEGORY_ID=4# Alternately, the OP/TECH… -
Re: Tried silhouette work last night
Hi marikris, This was actually tougher on the people in the image than on me. I put them in possition and told them to "interact". The snag was that they had to hold each "interaction" really steady. The wildcard was the dog. It just so happened that he had his eye on something and he stayed perfectly still for that frame.… -
Re: The Catchall Thread
I was living in the UK in the winter of '87. Yes, the one where Kent (and most of the rest of the Southeast) basically shut down for a week, followed by months of parliamentary enquiries discussing the AUDACITY of British Rail daring to have their snowplows in Aberdeen. I mean, like they might need them there when the… -
Why doesn't video autoplay in slideshow?
I am considering going power user with smug mug. I love almost all of the features... EXCEPT - the fact that video doesn't autoplay or play at all in the full screen slideshow, only in the gallery. This will be very confusing for my 87 year old grandmother in Holland! Any ideas? Is it something I'm doing wrong or just not… -
Re: Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II - $149 good?
The full set of 8 replacement cartridges cost about $87 on Amazon, and they say it's good for 230 pages with 5 percent coverage. Not entirely sure what that means haha. I'm curious if the tanks that come with it are half full like most or if they give you a full set. We printed about 180 8x10's at the minimum with the Help… -

as 87 of you know, or less counting for multiple clicks on the same thread, my beloved Canon A80 was replaced under extended warranty by my newly beloved Canon A95. From 4 megs to 5 megs in one easy motion. Heres the first public offering of its abilities. As many of you don't know, I live in Orange County , NY, home of…
