Re: Nikon D3
I wish I had a house to refinance, but unfortunately I am a lowly poor starving university student. Plus, I don't think my girlfriend would let me refinance anything seeing as I'm $30 000 in debt because of school. Also, for the same fact that you've had to make the business investment in the D3 because the D50 wasn't up… -
Re: upload timeout - tracert included
I am not sure what this tells you, since my tracert is complete, but I can only occasionally access my page. And, when I am lucky enough to connect there are many errors--most importantly, no photos show up. I have tried Mozilla, Firefox and IE from 3 seperate computers in my house with the same result. Below is my tracert… -
Re: Really great article on Photog's Rights
Good article. I'd read the Photographer's Right pdf long ago when it was linked from dgrin but forgotten the specifics - I'm paying closer attention to it during this reading now. :D I got hassled a few months ago when I was in Pittsburgh on a business trip. I was walking around downtown and got to the Pittsburgh Plate… -
Re: Canon 20D Vs. 30D
SOMEone's gotta play devil's advocate! Hi Michael, You may want to wait until a little more dust settles around the 30D. There are some really weird accusations against the camera, including: - It can produce large ammounts of grain / noise at low ISO's. - The 1/3 ISO steps are "faked" by pushing or pulling whole ISO… -
Re: Nikon Flash Settings
I use an SB800 with a D200 to shoot weddings and receptions. I set the SB800 to TTL whenever the subject is brighter than or equal to the background. That is about 99% of the indoor shots. In this mode, the flash does not take into account the background and simply exposes the subject correctly (usually). The flash… -

Re: Sigma DG and Sigma NON-DG - Please Help!
I have the 120-300 2.8 and I absolutely love it. I shoot sports and wildlife. I use a 2X extender with my lens and I am not disappointed with the sharpness. When it's set to around 7.1 to 9.0, the sharpness is great considering it's with an extender. On a bright sunny day, if I put in P mode, the camera usually puts itself… -
Re: At a loss...do a new site or improve on this?
I would take a look at three aspects as a first step: 1) the speed. It works fast for me at the moment but Angelo had a 20 second response. Check it out and talk to whoever is hosting. It must be consistently fast at peak times. Change your hosting provider or upgrade your package 2) the first page needs sharpening up to… -
Re: Merchandise Photography
I have been avoiding this thread, but it looks like no one is responding. "Your post left me with a lot of questions. I would recommend clarifying with your client exactly what they intend to use the images for, and exactly what their expectations are. Determine color space, file format, and as much specific detail as… -
Re: When Will SmugMug Offer Sub-Sub Categories
From the forums here, it sounds like Smugmug is working on the sub-sub-categories issue. I haven't seen anything about when it will appear and Smugmug usually doesn't tell us when until they're ready to launch it. In the meantime, here are some work-around ideas. For your sports example (which I run into all the time),…
