Re: DSLR on a shoestring. A must read for Beginner Grinners.
I've been doing some research and it seems that many people are finding that image quality of the new Canon digital rebel 450D is as every bit as good as the Canon 40D and 50D. The 40D and 50D offer a few more options more suited for the progessional photographer. The Rebel 450D and Canon 40D and 50D both have the digi III… -
Re: Inspired by Marisa's Post - Old & Abandoned Stuff
I got a few of these on the way to and from the Shootout...They're all IR shot with my modded Nikon D50 On route 89 north of Panguitch, UT headed toward Richfield, UT These next few were on a farm right off Route 70 headed to Salt Lake City in Meadow, UT This had to be the craziest place, right outside of Salt Lake City on… -
Re: A few snapshots taken on the trip home from Utah
Todd, I came down US 89A from Zion NP through Kanap, UT and then joined US 89 for a while and then headed east on US 264. The road I was on with the new schools, etc. was on US 264. The Hopi Reservation is like an island within the larger Navajo Reservation. You would have passed through the extreme western portion of the… -
Re: Advice for buying from Overseas thru Ebay
Art Scott, Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes the shipping would be high. but the combined cost $89+$30 is still less than or equal to the site prices I found in the US. And only found 2 real sites with the device, which surprised me. 120 seems to be the internet price plus their shipping in the US and that's without the… -
Re: Ocean Star
Yeah, I have the frameless entry ready to go! All 640 pixels. On this shot I am partial to having a frame. So it should be with great joy that others will see the shot w/o its clothes so to speak. It is not an exactly politically correct photo, but it has been there for the taking in my life since 1984. And as I said, it… -
Re: Canon 70-200 II has price (2499)
Probably a great deal since the US$ is now at 89 yen. It was only a couple of years ago that the US$ was at 115 yen. For comparison, I bought my EF100-400 L on Amazon in late 2007 for $1310. It lists there today for $1610... a difference of $300. Be thankful though, because Canon's equipment bought directly in Japan is… -
Re: would I miss 2.8?
You know the lens you are looking at is $89 for two weeks rental, then you can have $900 left over...... As a frequent traveller to Europe on business - it's a wonderful place - but enjoy the sense of history, food and culture. With the exchange rate at 1 euro = US$1.30 - you will find nothing worth buying. The lens you… -
Re: help with canon speedlites
So you could have saved money by purchasing Vivitar 285 HVs for $89 each, instead of 580exIIs at about $420 each from B&H. The difference would pay for a set of Pocket Wizards to trigger them. Or for two 580exII, you could have 4 285HVs and a pair of PWs, or 4 Cyber-Syncs even. What was the distance that you experienced… -
Re: Coal Mine Canyon, Arizona.
Navajo Permit We got the Navajo permit from the Navajo Parks Visitor Center in Cameron, AZ, which is at the junction of Hwy 89 and Hwy 64. It's just a little tiny building. I think it was $10. When you visit Coal Mine Canyon, it's obvious that you can just drive up. There probably isn't anyone around, or anyone who would… -
Re: 60D announced (for real this time)
Overall the 60D looks like a great camera and looking at the cameralabs verdict maybe a litte underestimated when compared to cameras in the same class: .................50D (90%) ......D90 (89%) ....60D (87%) Build Quality.. 19/20............ 16/20.......... 17/20 Image Quality. 18/20........... 18/20.......... 18/20…
