Re: Good Compact P&S?
I am a major advocate of Olympus P&S cameras. I have had 2, my wife currently uses one, and I have had many friends & family use them. They are a better price than many other brands. I would recommend one of the Stylus line. They are more feature-packed, and are built very well. My wife has one with in-camera image… -
Re: Help Nikon shooters
I would probably suggest D7000 ($1200), Nikkor DX 35mm f/1.8 (~$200), the new Nikkor 55-300 f/4.5-5.6 VRII ($365), the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 (VC [$549] or non [$414]: I have the non-VC and love it, some say it's better than the VC version), and an SB-600 ($220) or the new SB-700 ($330). That's ~$2400-2600. She could pass on… -
Re: Please Help! Photography Class
My first slr was the Vivitar 220/SL in black! I think it is much like the Pentax K1000 in that all the battery supplies power to is a match needle meter. And if I were to take a notion to pull it out and use it I wouldn't have to worry about getting a battery for it as I can use the same #675 battery that my hearing aid… -
Re: Printing Large for the First Time!!
Great ideas and I have not a clue why I never thought of that. I went to the site and even though I have show camera details clicked none show so I have no clue about that. I used a Nikon D200 for that group but many of the images at the site are taken with RB67 ProS and scanned over time so no EXIF data there. I will… -
Re: Lowepro Vest Harness vs Shoulder Harness?
I have an advantage being 220 and 6-1. I wear a think tank Speed Racer and keep a 70-300 tucked in there with a ton of other stuff. Some tricks for moving through a crowd: * Always smile * Always apologize * Wrap the camera strap around your right arm 2x and raise your right arm high into the air when moving through a… -
Re: At the mass meeting (10 img)
Spasibo for your comment, OneWayMule! I think that it doesnt matter at all... 1 At least here, in Russia. Its not easy to understand, but when life changes so dramaticaly during your life... Your life becomes 'before and after'. Its a bit easy for young generation to specialize... But what about others? You have a job. The… -
Re: pc monitor for photo editing
The Dell 2209WA can be had for about $220 USD when it goes on sale which it seems to do every three months or so. I question placing a lot of weighting on that one review from a site that only hosts 2 reviews as compared to these next three sites which review many monitors. http://www.prad.de/en/monitore/reviews.html… -
Mini Challenge #327: You can't see the forest for the trees...
At a time when the Mini participation is alarmingly low, I am taking a risk and choosing a somewhat difficult (at least in my mind...) subject. In 2016, one of the very first Minis that I entered was Mini 220 "Into the Woods" led by @pegelli. Ever since then I've spent a lot of time thinking about how to photograph a busy… -
FS/FT: Sigma 120-300 DG, 1.4X TC DG, 105mm UV filter DG, RRS plate
Hello. I haven't bought/sold here but I have at Nikonians and NikonCafe - references are available. Shifting my gear a bit. I'm looking to sell the following as a package for $2400 shipped CONUS and paid through Paypal. If bought new, this package would total $3350 + S&H so that's 30% off! Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 DG version.… -
Sandisk 8gb Extreme IV CF card problems
I just received my three Sandisk 8 gb Extreme IV cards for my Canon 50D yesterday (couldn't resist a pretty slick deal :wink). Used one card without any issues. Today, I used the same card and took a few 100 shots when I got an error 80 (first one I've ever had on this camera). Also, when I loaded the images in LR2, I got…
