Re: Flash Question
hmmm....Ed and Scott thanks for commenting. Guess I am going to explain the long story. Basically, I forgot my mem card and I borrowed the sister of the grooms who is my wifes best friend since childhood. (I've known her since 4th grade) So basically when we left the wedding she kept the card and the pictures. I finally… -
Re: Minimum photo gear for motorcycle vacation?
In order to facilitate the added size and weight of my D700 as my road trip camera verus the comparative "compact" size of one of my old D70 bodies as a road trip body, I am going pro in focal length but amateur in speed, construction and weight to facilitate the full frame camera body. The D700 ability to provide… -
Re: Fraud Warning: VistaPrint
Okay, so what I had intended as just posting a warning sign has been taking an interesting turn although I'm pretty sure you're NOT VistaPrint employees, distant relatives of its CEO, or its share holders.... How about a self introduction to lighten up the topic a bit? I noticed a couple of mentions regarding the fact that… -
Re: Niki @ five days old
I don't know anything about LAB colorspace either. I only stay there long enough to convert, then go back to RGB. Benifits? Maybe none, but I have been playing around with it awhile and I like the look. I can only describe it as soft, creamy, delicate looking.....at least to me. It doesn't look great in every situation,… -
Re: Sizing issue with Vimeo content block
I just wanted to chime in and say that this problem isn't limited to Vimeo content blocks. It also affects other content block types in general. It's basically impossible to have three objects across and have them be the exact same height and width, because all of them have to be integers and one of them is going to be… -
Re: Mini-Challenge #187 - Sports FACT
Didn't even know these challenges were here. Thanks for the reminder in the sports section. Here are three: #1: Ouch! This was at Michigan State vs Villanova, and when I read the FACT description about "Face" and "Contact" I remembered this shot. The ball is there as well (plus gloves and such), but the "Contact" here is… -
Re: Entering print comp....cc away
Well, the results are in and I need to improve some and the judges were tough, but they always are. It's the only way to improve when others judge you work and give cc. One of the judges was a 25 year old female that had her Masters from the Professional Photographers of America. That takes a bunch of years to obtain and… -
Re: D300s now? Or wait?
Full frame costs a pretty penny to be FULLY taken advantage of. No pun intended. Even if a D600 comes out at around $1999, which it certainly could now that the D700 is discontinued, the lenses required to take full advantage of the FX frame will cost hundreds more. (A couple / few thousand, by the time it's all said and… -
Re: Nikon D810 Grey Market
I do work in theaters with a D7200/D750 right now, I can tell you that even from the D7100 the D7200 was an improvement so it might be worth a look. The extra reach and especially AF coverage on DX is nice but you take a 1 stop noise penalty. Otherwise the 2 cameras IQ wise behave very similar with pretty flexible RAW… -
Re: Something new for me
PUSH THE ISO!! rofl I don't think the 5d is quite as spectacular as its newer sibling the 5dII, but I bet you could easily have gone to 1600. For peformance gigs, I frequently bump my 7d up to 1250 (my favorite - for some reason it produces the least noise), 1600 or even 2000. The 135L f2 is a SUPERB performer in these…
