Re: Boots for tripod legs...
Moisture and Sand resistance... Yes, I love the Giottos tripod. I have not used all of the bells and whistles on this tripod but, I am very impressed with everything about it. I have recently used the Giottos to support a 30D with a 400mm f/5.6L lens and a manfrotto 3421 Gimbal Lens Support. That was a fairly heavy package… -
Re: Wife says $1,500. What do I do?
Okay- non biased information is- 1. Figure out what you are going to be shooting primarily 2. What do you eventually want to be able to shoot 3. Price- obviously 4. Any gear/lenses you already own 5. Ergonomics- must go and hold the camera!! 6. Personal Preference- menus- live view- etc. Now to throw a whole new system in… -
Re: Seattle (lots o pics)
Thanks for the compliments! That first shot is a result of me wanting to get somewhat of a lomo/holga look. After the standard sharpening, mild contrast and color corrections in the RAW development (about 20 seconds, just to get it to look like what I saw) I took it over to GIMP. It's a little complicated at first, but… -
Re: How much to charge for art copy work?
For a very 1st job, $50 isn't bad for what you did...simple, no real creative work....just light and shoot........ As for what would YOU do with images of her art work.....put it in your commercial portfolio.....that is exactly what this shoot was ...... a commercial product shoot.....also that disk needs to be low… -
Re: lens?
Everybody always asks the "which ONE lens would you pick to shoot a wedding with", and that question is (no offense) kinda silly because, well, you just don't go into a wedding with just one or two lenses. What you REALLY mean is, "which ONE lens should I invest the most in?" And when you put it that way, the answer is… -
Re: Yosemite, here I come! Ted's trip to California nears its end
We woke up early the next morning, but we had to move our campsite over cause the next campers reserved that spot and we were in the other site. This was the third time I moved my tent. One cause it was too close to the fire pit, then the next spot the tree was dropping its sap, and then finally to its last location! Some… -
Re: Gallery Organization
I think this is the best way to do it, however I noticed that the orignal poster is linking to event pages, not categories or sub-categories. It is unfortunate that we currently cannot just link our clients directly to a main events page, however until they improve that organization I personally prefer to just send my… -
Re: Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Lens
I currently have one in my posession right now, a final production version, and I just shot the Perseid Meteor Shower with it, as well as a 3-day Hindu wedding. THIS LENS IS INSANE!!!!! You simply shouldn't think of it as competition to a 17-50 2.8 range lens. That's just not what it does. It is a prime lens that can zoom.… -
Re: Moving to FF! (5D Mk II) : How to spend lens budget?
I can see getting 2 good lenses and a flash, but a grip is pushing it unless its a 3rd party grip. For your bread and butter, I wouldn't compromise in IQ and build on what focal length(s) you need the most. If bust-length portrait is a majority of your work, I'd buy the Canon 135 F2, and a 3rd party 24-70 or 28-70mm lens… -
Re: Canon 100mm Macro Vs. 100mm Macro L IS
I don't own both, but I have shot extensively with both. If you're shooting higher than ~12 megapixels, then you kinda need the L. I have had this confirmed in my own tests, and by other owners. 21 megapixels is one thing, let alone the fact that the next camera will probably be over 30. If you're into nature photography…
