Looking for your advice and input
Hello All, It's been a while since I've posted here as for a period, I got away from my love of photography. Life gets in the way sometimes... I wanted to query folks here for input that might very well save my sanity. After shooting a Canon 30D for years, I've bought a Canon 5D Mark III. I'm struggling to get the image… -
Re: Digital Only Wedding Packages
Honestly, delivering nothing but a high-res disc is doing a disservice to MOST clients. Just ask any friend who recently got married in the past two, three, even four or five years. Have they gotten around to making a single print from their wedding, let alone an album or something else really nice? I know countless… -
Re: Is Image Stabalization worth it?
Ok....a realistic perspective Disclaimer: One's experience does not equate to fact. Ok, now that's out of the way...allow me to share something that may shed light on this topic. I'm a firm believer that IS is important if handholding for obvious reasons....camera shake or lack of it. I have several lenses which are easy… -
Re: Chapter 4, Professional Photoshop, 5th Edition
I thought I agreed to do the chapter on ACR. I might be willing to do some other chapters as well. I played some with the Barn picture. The negative slope comes largely because you were determined to put some contrast in the sky, and this basically causes you to write conflicting curves. The issue may be better handled… -
Re: wireless remote for 20D/30D/40D
Quite a lenthy discussion here: http://www.digitalgrin.com/showthread.php?t=84152 Plus I reviewed one found on Ebay: Ebay link Here is a copy of the review: Ok here is my report. Here is what it came with: You will see a a cable release with about a 2 ft. cord on it. A receiver and the remote. I included the quarter… -
Re: Canon 70-200 f4 L question
Hi Darryl. Lets crack a few myths first. A 70-200L F4 will AF, but it won't do it well. On my D Reb 300, it would not AF on the center focus point, but it would on the one just to the left of it. This is what is called a work around. This was with a Quantaray 2X TC, about $80 US. Looking at your gallery, most of your… -
Re: How To Compete With Other Print Labs
I sell images on disk in minimums of 5 and I push the fact people can go elsewhere and have them printed or put them online or whatever the hell else they want to do with them. Many customers will buy a disk to get a number of images at an affordable price and buy a print or 2 of their favorites as well. I also only sell 1… -
Re: >DSS #9: Dusk or Dawn Feedback Thread
So many great entries. These comps are getting more and more challenging! I love it! Thanks Peter, Llewellyn and Mark for the mention of my "Oats in the Morning". That really makes my day! I think I took about 75 shots. On the first day that my pnuemonia was some better I went out in freezing morning before sunrise to get… -
Re: lens?
Everybody always asks the "which ONE lens would you pick to shoot a wedding with", and that question is (no offense) kinda silly because, well, you just don't go into a wedding with just one or two lenses. What you REALLY mean is, "which ONE lens should I invest the most in?" And when you put it that way, the answer is… -
Re: Color Correction & CMYK
I've been using the selective color move lately in images that seem to be badly deficient in cyan (mostly digital shots). It's not a true substitute, however, for actual cyan information. In an ordinary scan, there should be enough information in the Cyan/Red channel to actually apply a curve that would bring the balances…
