Re: Help our customers understand cropping please
The culprit size for my 3:2 image is nearly always 8x10 and the shots that other people order prints of are nearly always vertically oriented shots of people (often sports). The default crop pretty much never works because I shoot tight enough that heads get cut off in the default 8x10 crop. I don't want to give up tight… -

Re: Aquarium Photos - Need Tips!
I have shot the Chattanooga Aquarium after dark a couple of times. It is really dark. Think ISO 1600 f2.2 1/50th - that's pretty dark. AF may be hard to achieve with your slower lenses. Some shots captured with a 10D can be seen here - http://pathfinder.smugmug.com/gallery/28167/1 Some shots with a 1DsMkll are here -… -

You can see quite a few of my sports shots at http://desertsky.smugmug.com/Sports/15247 I'd like to start earning $ selling photos so I can… -

Re: PDN regarding "Dad's with Camera"
First let me say I agree - pros need to deal with the fact parents have better and better equipment. But since you mentioned these facts, David, let me ask some questions if I may? * You shoot mostly 1 school and 1 studio - do you have a student in each? * If you add up the time you spend at all events photographing and… -
Re: BMW MOA Rally Lima Ohio
You are probably correct about the side car. I have no knowledge of the historical models of the BMW marque. I just thought the lines of the hack were great and graphical. I did not shoot any crowd shots - it was hot, humid, hazy and crowd shots are just not my thing either. I was shooting at midday, so I concentrated on… -
Re: E-sessions and the idiots who shoot them (me)
Actually it worked out great.. we tracked everything with this special... we sold 162 of them in ONE DAY. They are 1-hour shoots at a park. We've shot 87 of them so far, had only this one problem, and our after-sale average is $134 (some bought nothing, others bought packages up to $400+ in size)... we paid a 50%… -
