FS - Leica D-lux 4 bought 6 weeks ago
Just bought a Leica D-lux 4 about 6 weeks ago and absolutely love it. The HD video is really amazing. I've probably only taken about 100 pictures on it and about 10 HD videos. The quality is amazing, literally the best point in shoot on the market. Unfortunately I didn't budget my finances well so I have to pay for my… -
Re: Outdoor Wedding Equipment Question
Here is why and how you use FEL...flash exposure lock. Many photographers (myself included) like to pose people in deep shade. No worries about mottled light on the face, no worries about funky shadows, you are exposing the foreground with flash and burning the background with ambient. I use a hand held meter to meter the… -
Re: Upgrade PC or try a Mac for Lightroom?
I would second upgrading to a Nehalem based processor, but you don't need to go all the way to an i7-9xx with the socket lga 1366 and the tri-channel ddr3 ram . I went from an E5200 to a Core-i5 750 and it was huge jump in performance. The Nehalem architecture is just so much more efficient and clock for clock can process… -
Re: I am ready for a new PC
Either the Gateway or Dell 24" would be fine and are really nice for the money. Check out the reviews. Especially good for the Gateway. If Apple made a single chip, mid-tower I would likely go that route when I upgrade, but alas they do not and are not likely to in the future. So...... Currently $750 gets you a Gateway… -
Re: Online backup: Carbonite?
I'll add my plan. Currently have all photos on a 500gig internal and backup daily to an external. Both kept in close proximity so no good in case of fire, etc. I reviewed all of the online options and found problems with mozy in terms of retrieving data (download speeds, cost of DVDs). My friend and I worked out a plan to… -
Re: Shot boys lax 1st time would love input
I would suggest.... Sally I would continue to shoot in AV mode and set the aperature at it's fastest (I forget wat lens you were using) f/2.8. If you can maintain a shutter speed of 1/1000 or better, set your ISO at the lowest setting usually ISO200 or 100 depending on your camera. You will want to maintain a minimal… -
Re: XTi vs D40 vs 20D..... XTi Options.
After losing my first gen Digital Rebel + 2 lenses, I too am in the market for a new SLR. (Since insurance will only cover an SLR replacement, not the $300 S3 I bought. However, since the deductible is $750, I don't even know if it's going to be worth it. :{) A co-worker who does wedding photography on the side and has… -
Re: what computer and screen
I moved this to the Digital Darkroom Gear forum, where we discuss computers and monitors. I'm fairly happy with my CyberpowerPC Gamer Xtreme 1030, with an Intel Core i5 750(2.66GHz, 4 core) processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (PCI Express 2.0 x16), Windows 7 Home Premium… -
Re: the beginnings of event photography
Pretty good for the images. But I look at some of the images and ask myself "Why would someone want that image?" But not being there at the event, knowing the organization, I wouldn't. But people sometimes do want pics of the decorations, band, etc. But I find over 95% of the pics are gonna be of the people. Also push…
