Re: Thumbnails on new image picker are mighty small
Two follow-ups to my post above. The use of square or original aspect ratio thumbnails in the picker appears to be tied to whether the square thumbnails flag is set to on and off for SmugMug style galleries. The flag nominally defines the appearance of the thumbs on the left side of the screen in SmugMug style. It gets set… -

Re: R/C Car Racing
<< Any ideas on what I should look for? I don't wanna spend $150 if I don't need to >> Well, for a start, you don't have to use Canon's own - there's a fair range of 3rd party offerings available at far cheaper prices. Also, if you're willing to do a bit of fudging / mackling then it's possible to modify a non-canon one to… -
Re: Salton Sea Burrowing Owl Report 2008
The Salton Sea is becoming a huge ecological disaster. Its close proximity to Imperial and Coachella County farms, not to mention Mexico (New River), has been murdering it for years. Its salinity is at least 25% more than the oceans and it doesn't have anywhere to go. Burrowing owl populations have been declining for years… -
Re: Canon 50 1.8 vs. 50 1.4
I agree with claudermilk The f/1.4 lens is the better of the three 50mm lenses (f/1.8 Mark-I, f/1.8 Mark-II and f/1.4). However the choice would depend on several factors: 1. The amount of use you plan to for this lens 2. Your need for the wider aperture 3. Final use of your imagery 4. As always - your budget Explanation… -
Re: When does your clock start/stop for timed events?
Exactly.....it is just like with any job you've in the past where you punched a time clock...lets say....manufacturing, be it running a machine or assembly....a 7:00 AM start time would mean to be at your work station ready to work at 7AM not clocking in at 7AM..... Having doe weddings for a long time as a contract Photog… -
Re: ST-E2 trouble
Lynn, I have not noted this problem myself, but I saw a post here on dgrin somewhere by someone who was mentioning that fact. I do not think the light used for communication is polarized, but cannot understand what else would be altered by rotation. I doubt that this is an intermittent electrical malfunction also. I think… -

Advice need for a trip to St. John's V.I. US I will be going on vacation to St. John's Virgin Islands US on May 25 and am I looking forward to all the potential photo I will be taking, but I have a few questions: 1) Can anyone suggestion a few locations that would be really good? Re: photos after PP ps4 CC welcome
100% comparison after a quick sharpening vs the Original. ORIGINAL: FINISHED: Larger comparison to show tonality differences from the before and after as to demonstrate how realistic the skin will look after that much manipulation. ORIGINAL: FINISHED: The problems associated with this much manipulation is that the tonality… -
Re: Assignment #15: Panning blur
Nikolai, I have been thinking that perhaps you should give some kind of tips, or/and ask the photographers to do so, otherwise these assignments are no more than repositories of photos under a theme. Just an opinion. OK ? At the 1.st set of pictures I was using the 16-35 and the cars were pretty close to me: about 4 to 5…
