Re: Tamron 90mm (Model 172E)
You Have A Great Lens Your lens is the model previous to the present 90mm Tamron Macro. It is the 90mm f/2.8 Tamron SP Macro. The newer model adds the designators DI to that name to signify that it has been optimized for macro shooting! I would not worry about having the older model. If yours is as sharp as mine and there… -

Re: help with football shots
let's keep it simple OK, yes there's some good advice here in general. But, if all we're dealing with is a single game in August you'll have enough light in the first 2 quarters to get the shots you need with a 5.6 lens. Yes, the answers are different if you're talking October football. But, you do want to get your paper… -
Re: A Polite Discussion on the Relative Merits of Film and Digital Photography
I still own far more film format cameras than I should admit, including formats ranging from sub-miniature through 4"x5" view camera, and names like Hasselblad, Fed, Kiev, Lubitel, Pentax, Mamiya, Yashica, Graflex, Calumet and probably a few I've forgotten. I also have digital cameras ranging from Fuji and Minolta digicams… -
Re: Major change: new shopping cart is live
Okay, I'm pumped, I'm excited, I'm jazzed -- this is great. Perfect timing as school starts next week and I take school event pictures. I really am thrilled, no kidding!!! I played with it for a while and it looks just wonderful. I'll get my wife to play with the site later and capture her comments. She's more in tune with… -
Re: LPS20 - Unofficial Feedback Thread
Continuing on... 21: I think this is a fantastically creative idea. The composition hits the mark too. What I don’t like about it is that it seems over-lit to me. Making use of more natural indirect and softer light, like in number 27, would improve this. I have an idea how to do it, if you want to know. 22: A comical… -
Re: Action! (finally)
Good tips and assessment of the PJ style shooting. Correct me if I am wrong here (as I rely on your experience here) but I am thinking that Sportraits are something that maybe would be done more so after you have collected the larger lions share of the T&I images......? And if I put together a sportrait, of which I am sure… -
Re: Olympus OM-D E-M1
* DUAL FAST AF system that combines both Contrast AF and On-Chip Phase Detection AF. * Electronic viewfinder (EVF) that is as large as a full-frame DSLR viewfinder and has added creative control. (Display time lag of 0.029 seconds.) * New 16.3 megapixel Live MOS sensor, a new TruePic VII image processor. * The TruePic VII… -
Re: A Few Frames from last week in Yellowstone National Park
Bison shot would get my vote of the pics here, Jim ... but I'd consider losing the wedge of sky top left, and for me ... I don't think the frame edging (or whatever it is?) does the pic any favours.... but nice job. This is an excellent example imo of ignoring the technical of a photo ... and just appreciating it for what… -
Re: Eating from Maryland to Hawaii and Back
We met our travel agent George in the hotel lobby that afternoon - he has a group of over 30 people going on this cruise. He gave us our group T-shirts, door signs, and lanyards (for our room key). The group decided to go to dinner together at the **22nd Street Landing **. It takes a long time to get that many people…
