Re: Cathy and Gary (wedding)
Thanks to all for commenting! Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I was off having the worlds best camping trip in the mountains of AK for Memorial day weekend! We had 80 degree weather, and were quite spoiled. We came back with that "dirty, happy, tired feeling" and it is good to be home. @ Agnieszka: Thanks! I can't wait for… -
Re: Flash metering question
I shall bring at least one Corona, in that case! I look forward to meeting you (and others!) as well. I just conducted an experiment, in the name of science. When I was learning about exposure, the guy teaching me had us all take photos of walls at various exposure values so we could see how it varied. Here's my improved… -
Re: Following your dreams..
@ SCP. Thanks for the candour. I have serious questions on your relationship and lifestyle but Dgrin is not a place to go any deeper though we are all friends. Mail me if you want a pen-pal. Business wise you need to figure what the prospects are for Stone Creek Photography. You should make some kind of business plan and… -
Re: Blurb giving SmugMuggers 500 Free books!!
I received the book that I ordered 2 hours before the discount deadline. It's my second Blurb book, an 80-page hardcover, 10x8. My first book was a softcover 7x7, 40 pages... I posted a "review" of it a long time ago after I first found out about blurb on this site and put it together right away. I'm very happy with the… -
Re: A Test: Flash Exposure Compensation w/ 9 Examples
This was a test of a number of different things:* Does my light meter "correctly" measure incident light. Or, put another way, does my camera agree with the light meter? * Can I manually set the camera to "correctly" expose the background? * To what do I set the FEC to "correctly" expose the subject with fill light? *… -
Re: smugmug down?
One of the easiest ways that I've spotted things like this, is to open up a gallery with a hundred or two pictures in it-- then choose "all thumbs". Consistently shows missing images.I did a page detail, and here is some debug information that might be useful for your tech support... It's a capture of the network… -
Re: Help with starting freelance sports shooting
I had this idea about 10 Years ago. Never got it past shooting for my own and a friends kid. My daughter played soccer and played at the back near the goalie ( whatever that position is called) so was a weaker player. She loved playing, if she got a stab or two at the ball she was happy. The thing was, If i HAD to get… -
Re: A Few Frames of Alaskan Eagles and Whales
Paul, you bring up several interesting points for discussion. 1) Backgrounds - skies versus mountains and forests . I have lots of shots of the eagles against the pine tree forests that I posted on my Smugmug gallery, and the forests truly do usually detract from the image in most of my shots of that type, hence I do favor… -
Re: Decent Lighting / Low Cost for Intimate Model Shoot
Ok thanks to some more research and your advice, I am in the home stretch, thank god... so much for the "research/learn 20% of your time and do 80%".... at this rate I'll be "doing" for the next 30 years to catch up! I do understand the eBay thing, I have been good about 90% there, but then again I have only bought stuff… -
Re: New: Carousel Content Block
I use a slightly edited variation of the code. It is as follows:/* ================================================= MOVE THUMBNAILS BELOW PHOTO IN SMUGMUG LAYOUT ================================================= *//*change container width */.sm-page-layout-region .sm-page-layout-region-body { width: 80%;}/* Move the…
