Re: Organizing Wedding Galleries - With Examples
Good points from both of ya'll - thanks for the input. You're right Scott, I think if I end up using all 12+ of my categories it would be too much. But usually / hopefully I can combine a few of them depending on how many pics I have that are 'keepers' in each section. And I like what you suggested by splitting out the… -
Re: Bay Photo Printer Profiles
Hi all, I'm a color management expert but I know our workflow. Most of our clients just use sRGB or Adobe RGB. If they use the one profile we provide, it is for soft proofing. We do what we can to match our output across all devices. One of the problems we have with posting multiple profiles is that we have many silver… -
Re: Lens Reviews
Thanks "Andy" great links...which leads me into... After buying my first digital SLR last week (to replace my Bronica 645) I have had the camera out on paying assignments and really like the product...on advice from the folks on this board I purchased a EF24-105 F4L IS USM...and I really like it...also the first zoom I… -
Re: BIGMA+Kenko Pro 300 1.4X TC-Surfing
Here's another image with f/6.3 uncorrected for TC at 500mm (1,050mm EQ) (By the by, how does one calculate how much the TC changes the aperture?) <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/headscratch.gif" border="0" alt="" > DOF calculator indicates the DOF is around 7' for subject at ~300' and f/6.3; ~10' for f/9. In… -
Re: Canon Loyalty Program
Recent Loyalty Program Experience I have recently received two cameras through the Canon Loyalty Program. First one was a G11 for my wife (returned a dead Powershot S30). Second was a Powershot SX120 IS for my daughter (returned a dead SD 400). The G11 had problems out of the box. The main rear control dial didn't function… -
Re: The "Keeping Hoofy's Tail Properly Combed" Thread
It started as a way of keeping the tail clean and not caught up in brush, and the mane out of the way - presumably to avoid it getting tangled in swords and the like (the same reason that most horsy things are done from the left hand side, iow NOT the dominant swor hand). Now, it's just convention. Jumpers don't have to… -
Re: Trying to get my arms around pricing, could you help
People buy my stock photos. I am sure that many fellow Smugmug users also sell stock pics. In order to sell stock photos, you either have to market your site very well, have specific clients go to your site, or sell on the hundreds of stock photo websites. Now, on the larger stock sites, you will be competing with millions… -
Re: A few recent shots
Thanks so much for your comments. I was a little bit surprised that several of you thought that #2 was a cliché--I was more concerned that #1 might be. Ah, well--unless you're NASA it's hard to get a pic that's never been done before. Even then someone will complain that it's yet another shot of colliding galaxies. But… -
Re: How do you get noticed...
I shoot motocross, locally, and wondered the same things. I ended up looking up the magazines and such...on line, and finding out what their guidelines were. It was real easy to see how much they paid per photo, and per line in of story. I found an on-line version of one magazine that pays $40 for a story (under 500 words)… -
Re: dkapp owes fish a dollar
Congrats! Once again your life just got better! I have the G5/2.0 & 23" Display and though not as sexy as the new stuff, plenty sexy for me for the time being. Did you get 4GB ram? that seems to be the magic number-had less and spent too much time looking at a spinning "processing" wheel. One thing I did do (recommended by…
