Re: Grrrr...unlicensed use of my photos by former client - professional advice please
So, the head editor was running scared and tracked me down and got in touch with me. (I was trying to hold off on talking to him because I had attorneys looking into the details of my case.) I accidentally picked up the editor's call when he called from a different number that was similar to my attorney's phone number. He… -
Re: Video Codecs, Formats and Conversions
SD DV is already compressed so that when you import the video stream from tape into the computer the "capture" software, or capture function of editing software, simply inserts the DV frames into an appropriate "wrapper". Any modern DV wrapper contains discrete video frames that are digitally identical to the video frames… -

Panasonic DMC-GX7 vs. Nikon D3300
Hello everyone, I am new here and during my rather extensive search for information I luckily stumbled over dgrin! After reading through a couple of threads that seem to be related I could not find the sort of advice I was looking for yet. I basically could use some experienced opinions on a new camera purchase I would… -
Re: Video Editing Discussion
I moved this to the Video and Action forum as that's where we currently discuss video software and hardware. I have a Canon 5D MKII and I am running 1080p video editing on an Intel Core i5 750(2.66GHz, 4-core) processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (PCI Express 2.0 x16), Windows… -
Re: Triathlons - Anyone done them?
Again, my comment is tempered from what I'll call a seasoned athletes perspective, specifically in the US. I personally see no value as a customer wanting a magazine cover type shot. Having done tri's on and off for 25+ years I just haven't felt the need for that type of shot to be on my wall or in a scrapbook. And I… -

Re: Which DVD should be used for best results
If you are using a very good quality disk (look at the color of the disk ....if it a dye (red, blue, green, purple etc etc) then check with the mfg'er to find out what type.....the MAM-A site tals about dyes also), if the burning side of the disk is silver then it is most likely a metallic foil and should be good for a few… -
Re: Best camera & lens for $1700?
Hi Melodina, I won't say anything about you photographing the wedding instead of an experienced professional, because I'm sure that with your appreciation for photography, you would KNOW whether or not your niece can afford an experienced pro. Hey, I was dirt poor when I got married too, and I've photographed plenty of… -
Re: What's your story?
How cool! I hadn't seen this either but very interesting reading. I'd have to do some digging to find some colorful family photos like Andy's though. How old are you? As of this posting, 38 Where do you live? Purcellville, VA (northern VA, somewhere west of Washington DC) Family? Been married to my wife Liz, also a…
