Re: Getting out proofs
The only thing I don't do in Lightroom is cleaning skin where necessary. I do that in Portrait Professional. Depending on the photos, and how many closeups I am delivering generally 20 to 30 pictures. Well they don't "just" get put through Lightroom....I open every single photo in Lightroom and evaluate and/or adjust the… -
Re: New alt/title tags for photos include filenames, even if filenames are disabled
Yepp, I know. When turning off JS new SM shows a blank page. BTW: lots users have JS disabled for a reason. Some SM sites with home-brewed JS are annoying slow because they are badly coded. I am not sure what I see here, when disabling JS and using a different user agent. For me it looks like JS scripts were executed? But… -
Re: Need Help with my site
Come on Glort, your "exactly the kind of post" post was ambiguous. I enjoy Sam's posts. You can imagine that SM is a greedy corporation fooling photographers into buying a service they don't really need, and providing indifferent customer service, but you would be wrong. It is a mom-n-pop company run by photographers with… -
Re: Printing dark, new user
Hi, Sorry to hear you were unhappy with your print results. Dark prints are the number one reason for print problems : http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93358 The problem is normally less one of monitor calibration. Or, how photos "look" on a monitor. And more of a backlighting (monitor view) versus… -
Re: Basic Settings for prints in Lightroom/CS5
Sam, It is quite hard at times to convey your actual message through email or forums for sure. Sometimes I come across really harsh in which I don't intend to. On my original post I guess that I just didn't think anything about it, lol. I'm probably too critical of my own work anyway, but I always try to do the best though… -
Re: What should I do?
Ok, let's try this again... Ok, so send us a link to your pictures. I understand completely. My point is that you already HAVE good gear. Gear that most of us would have KILLED for when we started shooting. The camera you own now, used well, is sufficient to put photos on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Any pro will tell… -
Re: Future Annual Dgrin/Smugmug Shootouts
That's how these things start. A dialog begins with ideas. Some considerations for shootouts have been: Several really cool places to shoot in a somewhat small geographical radius. Something we can all congregate in for a day or two, and then move on to another nearby location for another day or so. The location subjects… -
Re: What is street photography?
Sara raises excellent questions - musings - and the responses are quite interesting. I'd say that of course part of the attraction to the work of the greats of the 30s, 40s, and 50s is that they take us back to a simpler, quite different time. One of the important aspects of the genre then was that, in cities, people lived… -
Re: Reno, Nevada
Hey Wicked, Reno is my photographic stomping grounds (I live in South Reno). There are many possibilities, especially given the distances you are talking about. There are many options that allow you to avoid the crowds also. I guess I’ll start with what’s within one hour of Reno proper. I wish I had access to my photos so… -
Vedauwoo -- Land of the Earth Born Spirit
Always looking for something to do on the weekend, I decided to head up to Vedauwoo for a weekend of camping, photography and hiking/bouldering. Vedauwoo is located a few miles east of Laramie, Wyoming. It gets it's name from the Arapaho, meaning "Land of the Earth Born Spirit". They say that the indians used to visit the…
