Re: DEAL: 4GB CF Microdrive for $79 !!
Here's a helpful review: http://www.epinions.com/content_218268208772 Here's less-helpful one: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1035&message=16652214 From my personal experience with a past 2GB Hitachi microdrive:* The write speed is not as fast as a fast CF card ... one review above clocked the Seagate at… -
Re: Pricelists are here!
If all these reasons are why we cannot set the price directly, smugmug is getting at a crossroad like Netflix. IF you want to expand into foreign markets, operate labs in those countries. I shouldn't be affected by foreign concerns. My customers are in my state, or the border states. I know I am using less pricelists… -
Re: Pricing for Profit vs Bad Business or Understanding what your Business Model IS!
Sorry but if you are a "Business Consultant" as you claim, then you need to go back to Accounting 101 and review fixed vs. variable costs. Rent, unless you are paying a percentage of sales, is clearly a fixed expense. Doing this $10 job won't increase your rent. Insurance, unless you are paying a per-shoot insurance… -
Re: External Monitor
In part, the answer depends on what color space you shoot your images in, what space you edit in, how colorful is the subject you shoot and if you do your own printing on a high end multi-ink wide gamut printer. And your $$ budget. ** If you shoot in sRGB or RAW and extract to sRGB or exclusively work in B&W then a… -

Re: Earthlings Through The Eyes Of A Wandering Biker
Eastbound across the Sinai, some of the best roads in the Middle East flow from desert floors into steep rocky canyons. Traveling on whims and moods, at any moment a curious rider can explore off-road in search of small Bedouin villages. A long, sandy path from the desert leads to the cement block homes of Ahmed and Saad.… -
Yosemite in Winter
Yosemite trip, Alarm went off at 5:30 am. Batteries charged, clothes, (lots of warm stuff) and camera gear were all packed yesterday. Truck was all gassed up and ready as well. A quick run through the rain locker and I’m off. Arrived at Mariposa 4 hours later, too early to check in. Grab breakfast and head on over to the… -

Re: >DSS #9: Dusk or Dawn Feedback Thread
Ok, pulled the trigger and voted. It nearly killed me, since I could happily have chosen any of them for a winner, and there were four that were a dead tie imo - I practically had to draw out of a hat to click that poll! Glad to see others posting background stories - I was wondering if/when that would happen :) I alluded… -
Re: Does it really matter....
On lenses J: Keep in mind that the D40 can't use all of the same lenses that are available to the others. It's restricted to AF-S lenses (which eliminates almost all of the fast wide, normal, and mid-telephoto primes). H: Here's a recent list (not compiled by me)... From Nikon: WIDE-ANGLE -AF 10.5mm f/2.8G ED . . . $…
