Re: Adobe Super Resolution
I have. It makes a visible difference. You can see a comparison here. (Scroll about 2/3 of the way through.) But I'll wait until this feature is integrated into Lightroom before I use it much. Details. I recently had a case where up-scaling would have been useful. I was shooting some surfers at a nearby beach and got a… -
Re: iTunes....how does it work
ok - I tried like you did above, using the 'redeem' button and then tried to set up an account. Kept getting the page asking for c/c info - but my son swore that there was a "none" button to select if you were using gift cards. So I finally found the following (below) and even though it seemed like I did all that before,… -
Re: To saturate or photoshop..that is the question.
'gus - I think the comments about underexposure, underexpose for shaded places, overexpose for snow are all dancing around the question of what is the correct exposure for this scene. Sunny f 16 says -- 1/ISO at f16 for average neutral grey scene in full frontal sunlight - Used to see this formula inside the boxes of… -
Re: Return of the 6' model
To All, to 4labs: I am sure I will eventually get around to a 5-8 model, and as PM'd my previous shoot has the 5-1 model with the large tattoo. She has a slight skin discoloration thst is what you see. to Rahmonster: Thanks for the comments. to Khaos: Yes does indeed need PS work, I just need to get less complacent, and do… -
Re: Las Vegas
Thanks for looking, and I appreciate the comments. Garry Winogrand said something to the effect that, 'the best photos are the ones that are on the verge of not working.' I can play on both sides of that line! I'm not comfortable shooting people and try to stay away from it, but my lousy skills and mild distaste for the… -
Re: Passionate...
Angelo, this is not scientific at all. My mind has enough problems without complicated math while shooting. I use AV priority, but it doesn't matter as long as you can control the aperture. The lower the number, the less depth of field you are going to get, the higher the number, the most depth of field you are going to… -
Re: DSS #13 Clarity or Diffused Feedback
Here's the feedback from achambers: 4 TheCuriousCamel - HazyDay Good shot, the colors are wonderful. Even thought sunsets/rises are kind of cliche the grass in the foreground sets it apart for me. 6 Divamum - Iced Foliage I really like this image, I can't put a finger on why. There is something compelling about it that… -
Re: Tennis elbow for photographers?
As per your website advice column, you may want to lose the 24-70 lest brides ask you whether or not you use zooms! :-P Okay in all seriousness, yeah it can get heavy. A full-size camera body and a 70-200, OUCH. ...Which is why I try and stick with a grip-less D300 or D700, with primes on the D700 and crop-sensor zooms on… -
Re: Some break dancers in China
Thanks again. Appreciate the compliment. Thank you!

This one has been cropped in a bit.

A couple of shots of the break dancers taken with my Nikon F4, Ilford Pan 400 pushed to 800, (D76… -
Re: Raw, noise and D300
High ISO noise reduction is probably applied during the processing to JPG, so I wouldn't expect any difference in RAW, which means you can leave the high ISO reduction on because it doesn't affect RAW. Long exposure noise reduction probably does affect RAW. You can test the degree yourself: Make sure you start with a fully…
