Re: Check it! Wedding post... (and new bloggie!)
Nice job! Gorgeous couple! IMNSHO #7 is best of the bunch! The eyes really have it! (both bride & groom!) …but (sorry, you know me!) there's all that space to the left… totally wasted… all the action is in the right half of the frame, which is OK if you're going to fill the left with text (copy space as it's called), but… -
Re: Foreign currency transactions
One of the big issues here, guys, is that customer buys a print today: * we pre-auth the card for Xamount of local currency * now the order is in proof delay for 7 days, say the pro takes the full 7 days... * order released, up to 2 more days in the lab... and it ship, yay! * but the currency rates changed between the time… -
Re: Workign with RAW files - Exif-jpeg and Exif-Tiff question
Another option is Phase One's Capture One Pro 7. It supports over 250 different RAW formats, and the Oly E1's ORF format is one of them. Granted it's a bit pricey, but I find that it does a better job of correcting white balance, especially for skin tones. It is also very good at recovering blown out highlights, and… -
Re: Monarchs
Nice set, Taz. I'm drawn to the ones with strong backlighting because the colors pop. Number 8 is my favorite. Nice composition. I also like 7 a lot. I see that you wanted to keep them very natural. I might have increased the orange a bit in 7 to make the subject stand out even more. I like the separation you achieved on… -
Re: Impromptu with Rachel
Nice series, but these perfectly illustrate my problem with this camera. The fixed wide angle focal length works great in these shots for your full and 3/4 frames (1,5,6 and 8), but I just don't care for the headshots (2,4 and 7) which I find unflattering. She already has a bit of a broad nose, but those headshots really… -
Re: Display photo x of x in lightbox
Not sure if this would present a problem for the OP, but my camera will shoot 10 frames each second and I would keep more than one, two or three of these for some sequences (but I shoot sports). Something for the OP to consider if this is relevant to them. To OP ... this may not be a good solution for you, but if you use… -
Re: Setting curves/levels in Lab mode
Yes, profiles always affect conversions. But, the larger point holds: whatever the profile, and whether or not one starts and ends up in sRGB or Adobe RGB or some exotic space, going from RGB to LAB and back entails no effective shift of hue, and neutrals remain neutral. Also, while there remains room for discussion on the… -
Re: R1800 Horrors
Borrow a laptop/desktop that has an earlier operating system and drivers and the Adobe applications you have. Test the same image files on the printer to test the ink delivery system. If you tried to use the original print drivers, that came with the printer, on Windows 7, and then updated to the latest drivers, that may… -
Re: PS Curves questions...
OK, I have a question (not sure anyone is still reading this thread) But anyway, Ive gone through a couple basic tutorials by now on curves and setting the shadows and highlights, and Im confused on which levels for RGB to use. For example, on the "popping" tutor here on Dgrin the poster sugessts 7 7 7 for black and 247… -
Re: Save with Batch
Yes that is true with closing or leaving them open. I have never done left them open. If I am only doing it on a few images that would be good. Usually I do batches on hundreds of images together. I guess I got in the thinking how I use it mode. This maybe why Image Processor was created, but I was trying to give some info…
