Re: 3 Cheers for 3 Champs! (big post)
Prezwoodz and Nipprdog, Thank you! Those are mighty nice compliments! Kdog...that was good, thanks BeamCatcher, The bodies I use are a 1D MarkII and a 1DS MarkII. The 1DS is not my first choice for sports (I use it for my architectural work) but it makes a great second camera and will allow for full frame wide angle… -
Re: Need advice please about posssible 40D noise problem
I'm only going to look at the last two images as the exposure parameters for the others are not consistant. My Foxfire exif plug-in is reporting the following: Last 10D image: # Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 3/10 second = 1/3.33333 second = 0.3 second # Lens F-Number/F-Stop = 14/5 = F2.8 # Exposure Program = normal… -
Re: Wedding help
Merc, I shot a wedding last friday. The pics aren't ready yet as I still have some post to do on about 1/3 of them. I was the only photog there, as the couple was trying to save money. I told them no, I wouldn't do it and recommended three other people, but they kept comming back to me (family). Finally I agreed to do it… -
Re: CRT vs. LCD Monitor
OK.... now we're getting to where I can suggest a monitor. $300 is pretty much the bottom end for a decent LCD monitor with either an IPS or PVA type TFT panel. But there are some good products there that are very usable. In particular, the Dell 2209WA has been getting rave reviews the past year. It is probably the best… -

Re: "Make a copy" not working today
It was working again... for how long I'm not sure... I think it was for a couple days. But then last night, I was trying to copy photos & stupidly assumed it was working, since it had been for a bit. I did "make a copy" on a bunch of photos, and then finally realized it wasn't making any copies. This is why I absolutely… -
Re: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS vs Non-IS??
I'm chiming back in on this for a minute, just to share my own experience in a little more detail as I think it's relevant. I FOUGHT FOUGHT FOUGHT against all of the 70-200s for all the reasons mentioned. Heavy, expensive, hate the obnoxious "looky me" white coating etc etc - I had a 135L which suited most of my needs and… -
Re: Raw - Why should I bother?
The initial questions was whether a person - who seemed to be rather happy with the jpgs they were getting - should shoot RAW. I think for that individual the answer is probably no they shouldn't, unless they are particualarly interested in improving their images with image editing. If their SOOC jpgs satisfy them, great.… -
Re: RAW or JPEG
This is a false choice. Not just for professionals but for people like me as well. When you're shooting landscapes or have two different bodies with two different set ups maybe you can get all the pictures you need in jpeg. What about when you're shooting your kid at a birthday party in a gym? Or running around the pool… -
Re: What are YOU trying to do?
I am also an artist, professionally since high school with many different mediums. I see the smallest detail and the slightest color differences whether I want to or not (ADHD). I can paint what I see (not from memory) which is why I need to create photos first, a new interest verses throwing other pictures found on the…
