Fire!
Some of the shots from a fire last week. I've never shot outside before, let alone action outside. The only thing I've done with this gear is shoot gymnastics. So there's a bit of a learning curve, and as you can see, some of the photos are blown out. I stayed way back at first because I didn't want to get in the… -

The problem with black skin is the variety and range of tones. There is equal variety in caucasian skin but the range is much narrower and the difference tends to be straightforward: magenta and yellow will be proportional throughout the range; the difference will be how far ahead of cyan they run. Pale skin will have cyan… -

First of all, her subjects were very young, and she was sharply focused on their eyes, but babies and young children have proportionately larger eyes than do adults thus contributing to their cutness. She also lightened or used a light source to focus a lot of light on the children's faces..and… -
Re: Church Wedding HDR
@Ed911: Thank you very much! @mmmatt: When I shoot hand-held HDR I brace myself if I can on something nearby like a mailbox, parking meter, or in this case, a doorway. Make sure my camera is set on rapid fire, lock my focus, exhale, hold it, and fire off three successive shots. There's a great Joe McNally vid about body… -
