Canon IP 4700 Colour balance.
I'm posting this up in the hope that it may save some other poor sod the drama I went through to get my IP 4700's colour balanced. It seems to be a known problem with these IP 4700 printers that they throw colour casts, usually a magenta one. There is a lot on the net about it but i found all the advise to be completely… -
Vermont Covered Bridges - Fall Color
My husband and I flew back to Connecticut to visit family. (Edit: It was October 10-13) We decided to take the opportunity to take a short trip up to Vermont to do a little leaf peeping and see some covered bridges. We're both from So. Calif. so we have never seen the Fall Colors of New England. I hope you New Englanders… -

Horizon Perfekt (swing lens panoramic film camera)
A little over a week ago I fell in love with the images in Jeff Bridge's The Making of True Grit. The images were so wide screen. And not in the same way that panoramas are that we shoot now in digital and stitch together. You couldn't shoot people like that, not easily, anyway. We could crop, but I don't know many… -
Re: Does it really matter....
On lenses J: Keep in mind that the D40 can't use all of the same lenses that are available to the others. It's restricted to AF-S lenses (which eliminates almost all of the fast wide, normal, and mid-telephoto primes). H: Here's a recent list (not compiled by me)... From Nikon: WIDE-ANGLE -AF 10.5mm f/2.8G ED . . . $… -
Re: Monitor
The Spyder Pro does not allow you to set a target brightness in the same manner as you would with the Spyder Elite. The Elite has a dedicated module for this and it works really well. You set the value you want to see, i.e. 120 cd/m2, and the Elite's software gives an active semi real time (click to update) screen to see… -
Jumping In - Head First
I'll preface this post with a little background on myself. I'm 18, just out of high school. Not that it matters, but I am taking the GED test in 10 days; Didn't do the regular diploma route due to circumstances beyond my control. Anyway, I find myself with a lot of free time (between jobs). Photography and Post Processing… -
Re: First gig with a good light
John, Thanks for stopping by! It took a while to make the decision, especially taking into account the $-factor. My initial attitude was to get the cheapest package possible and maybe upgrade it later. However when I started to look into details the sheer number of cords and wires pushed me toward all-wireless (the vision… -
Re: 300 dpi
Take the number of pixels in the long dimension of your image (likely something between 3000 and 4500). Divide that into the long dimension of the print you would like to make (e.g. 24"). So 4200 pixels / 24" = 175 pixels per inch. Exactly how many pixels per inch you need for a high quality print depends upon the type of…
