Re: Nikon D800 36mp $4,000 rumor
I'm betting: D400 stays DX, but if the D800 does cost $4K then there WILL be a ~$2K FX alternative, for sure. Honestly though, I'm not really happy about that idea. Partly because of the fear that they'll simply make an FX version of the D7000, and to me that is un-acceptable for professional use. I need my near-flagship… -
Re: Nikon D800 36mp $4,000 rumor
I have no idea if the rumor on the Nikon Rumors site has any truth in it...but, I suspect not much...for a couple of reasons. First...a D700 replacement will have to be priced competitively with other 20 something mega-pixel cameras...new models that are much better than their predecessors. So, no $4K price tag. Secondly,… -
Re: Nikon D800 36mp $4,000 rumor
EXACTLY, the 1DX sensor is WAY more exciting for me as a portrait and wedding photographer, than some ridiculous 36 megapixel behemoth. If Canon's 5D mk2 replacement has the 1DX sensor, dual card slots, and especially Canon's "old" flagship 45 point AF, then it makes WAY better sense as a professional still camera than… -
Re: Nikon D800 36mp $4,000 rumor
Oh, I totally agree. I'd take a D700s (with the D3s sensor, and dual card slots, NOTHING else - not even video) ...and I'd be totally in heaven! Heck, I'd settle for an easing of supply VS demand on the D700 as it is; if the used price dropped back down below $2K, I'd be happy. Unfortunately, I believe it was a Nikon… -
Re: Nikon D800 36mp $4,000 rumor
I totally agree that the D700 has one of the best sensors ever made, and I really wish Nikon would just make it some sort of permanent standard in their system. Personally, I keep holding out for a D700s. I mean hey, they made the D70s and D2Hs quite a while after their lineup had progressed passed those models, right? Or… -
Re: Nikon D800 36mp $4,000 rumor
The new leaked images have got to be fake, I'm 100% certain. I've posted my reasons in greater detail in their latest thread, but the bottom line is that Nikon simply wouldn't put a "rec" button right there on the top of the camera. Even if they were to add a video record button, it would be on the back. From the Nikon…
