Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
Now, this is pushing all the limits. This is the main thing why I am begging for the freaking javascript- so I do not have to expose the names of the private galleries and have people just type the name and be redirected (with javascript). And here it is: a paid customizer firm is have access to this facility and I - a… -
Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
No, bad code on your server cannot bring down Amazon's servers, or affect other customers. Each customer is pretty much perfectly isolated from each other to ensure that this isn't possible. This is why Amazon don't need to care what you're doing, or how much you end up 'ruining' your independent slice of the machine… -
Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
Holy Hay, Zeus. People are people... I have over 700,000+ images online with SmugMug! To Baldy and everyone at SmugMug: THANK YOU! Y'all have huge cajones and I applaud you and your efforts. I was previously a UI engineer for some Fortune 100 clients and now as a professional photog/web monkey I have been with SmugMug for… -
Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
I believe, in a reality, there are MUCH less people like you mentioned ( JFriend, Allen, Denise, DrDavid etc.) compared to the rest of the customers. I am wiling to make a prediction that at the moment there are about under 7% of customers who will (and are) suffer a lot due to javascript removal. The rest of the current… -
Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
I've been reading many of these posts over the last couple of days. What most of them say to me is that people are not putting in the time to understand the new system. Yes, it is a new system and it will take you a bit of effort to figure it out. Instead of spending all the time typing out your complaints, dig in. I spent… -
Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
I wish I had screen captured the page earlier, because I am 100% sure the 19th date was not there any time I had checked prior to today. I would think maybe I am crazy, but at least one other poster above confirms that the date was not there before when they looked. Had there been any kind of date, I would have just set a… -
Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
John, Whether or not there is any financial gain to sue SM - there are people who can and will do:) Financial gain is not the only driving force in this case. But even in terms of financial gain/goal - there is. I cannot go into more details at this point. But SM may be in a big lengthy litigation due to these business… -
Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
There's some truth to this. I happened to have a couple of days free, and have spent a lot of time and have my site ready to unveil (not actually sure why I have not yet frankly, just a bit paranoid). It's not nearly as terrible as some make it out. And parts are a bit arcane, so you must spend some time -- but not NEARLY… -
Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
Ian, you are correct. As I said, Pass is mainly for wedding photographers and for those who don't care about selling prints online but about getting word of mouth marketing with their images. For those people it make a lot of sense. Secondly, Pass users are those who are focused on client experience and not on print sales.… -
Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
What Andy is saying is very straight forward. 'Some things have changed including old links. So here's the new link to foo gallery, enjoy the new site.' Or 'Here's the main URL. Please navigate to the gallery of your choosing.' What is so difficult with this and why would this suggestion be so offensive? The new SM is like…
