So tonight I came home with the following: iMac 20" with the same amount of 'guts' as the first level of 24". The more powerful 24" is special order and 6 - 8 weeks away...:cry . I didn't want to wait... So, I decided on the 20" with a 23" apple cinema display. The sales guy figured that as a "prosumer" I might be better… -

The nice thing about going the way of the MB/MBP with a large monitor is obviously portability. The MB lacks a real video card, and thus will eat up some of the RAM from the machine. That being said, it will push a 24" (1920 X 1200) without a hitch. The MBP has a dedicated GPU, and can push up to a 30" monitor. When I'm… -

agree and its installed on my mac, but unfortunately, its doesnt give details on LCD screen tech. It just says LCD. I only seem to find this when Apple points it out specifically. The 24" iMacs were always specifically called out as IPS, but the 21" never were. Same for the 27" as well. Not sure why they do not stress this… -

Very happy with mine. But I will tell you I calibrated both it and my external 24" Dell FPW and there is a difference in how the colors look. They were done at the same time, and I think it may be related to the MBP 'dimming' even with power management off (IOW problem=enduser :D ). But they do each have their own profile…
