Re: 300D-EOS5 and D70 quandry
cheers for the input guys, I can understand where ya'll are coming from re: the lense being the deciding factor (the more I learn about this photography game the more it seems the camera is largely secondary to choice of glass and knowledge of how to take a picture :D). Given I have no previous bias one way or the other I… -
Re: HP ZR30W - which gamut to pick?
I see two issues right away. First, in Windows Color Management where it says "Device Profile" this should point to your monitors' ICC profile. There should be a default one that will look something like "HP ZR30w". You want to use the HP profile as it has data unique to the idiosyncrasies of your monitor where the "sRGB… -
Re: Pro Account increase
$2-3 in postage--what would you have them do differently? Not protect the photo from bending? You choose to sell prints for $2? (Hard to imagine how your business can be profitable considering overhead, unless you somehow don't have the expenses the rest of us do.) Maybe you should promote packages instead, 8 for $xx, then… -
Re: Photography Workshop--Shoot Wild Utah with Marc Muench!
More on Recommended Fuji chrome film When I asked Marc what film might be good for what we're doing, he responded suggesting Fujichrome Provia 400 speed chrome film. I looked into that, and found out that Provia comes in Provia 100F, 400F & 400X. Paraphrasing the Fuji descriptions: Fujichrome Provia 100F and 400X are… -
Re: Time to start treating us like business partners
Andy - I appreciate your response. Your customer service is one of the main reasons why I chose Smugmug as my partner for my on-line business. It really is top-notch. Having said that, I must be blatantly honest - the first statement I quoted just isn't acceptable. This subject has been tossed around on DGRIN for at least… -
Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
Problem: My daughter is blissfully unaware of the need to keep free space available on her startup disk. A couple of days ago it actually got down to 140mb of free space (it shouldn't fall below 10%, or 4GB, in her case.) Solution: An applescript that's triggered by iCal. You make a new event in iCal, tell it to run this… -
Defining characteristics for Smugmug pro for hobbyists
Hi, given the doubling of price, I thought I'd start a thread specifically for folks who want 'Pro' features but are hobbyists. The 'Price increase' thread has gone through many pages of different opinions, and I thought I saw the CEO of SM being open to considering what is a right feature/price point for hobbyists: The… -
AC5 for PW TT5 units
I FINALLY received my AC5 RF "socks" from PW. The package comes with a RF reducing shield/sock that has a string pull at the bottom, and Velcro at the top. Also included is a Pass-Through shoe filter. I put the sock on my 580EXII, mounted the flash on the shoe filter, shoe filter on TT5, then secured the sock at the top of… -
Re: Lens suggestions for Canon t3i
Most of the stuff you said is dead on. The T3i isn't the best body for weddings, sports, or children (compared to a 60D, or even a 50D or 40D). But if you've decided on a T3i, then that'll work. Definitely get the 50mm. I have one and it's GREAT for portraits. It's about the best value in the Canon lineup (the 200mm f2L… -
Re: Geotagging - Long and Lat formats?
hi Dick, The first is the latitude: N48 50.722 and the second is the longitude: E2 20.390. If you are going to enter it in Smugmug manually (under "Edit Geography") you need to convert these co-ordinates to decimal by clicking on the link Wanna convert?. You would enter each co-ordinate, one at a time, on the second input…
