Re: Is my Canon 70-200f/2.8 L copy sharp ?
Handheld?? Really now....:): 1/200th at a focal length of 200mm is just barely adequate for handholding. Fortuantely, IS helps a lot. Was it turned on? Evaluating lens sharpness by looking at images shot with a hand held camera is fraught with some significant problems.. If you really want to evaluate a zoom lens, you will… -
Re: Cristin and Chase- Trash the Dress (16 photos)
2. Love the processing and their expressions in this one 4. LOVE her expression and the lean-in on this one 5. A nice moment between the two of them...just lovely. 6. I like the contrast in this scene. The red really sets it apart. Ambient light or OCF off to her left? 7. Very cool shot! (no pun intended) Really like the… -
Re: Quick Question (About Baseball)
Mike, thank you for the very nice compliment. Your question is a bit difficult for me to answer, I'm sure you know why, it just depends on the sport and situation. If you ask me what my favorite lens to use is...hands down the 300/2.8. I can use it as is or put on a 1.4TC with virtually no loss of IQ or focus speed. That… -
Re: Taught/Attended a workshop! Photo Heavy!
I think they look really good, technically. The color is lovely and they are all nice and sharp. From a critique standpoint (and bear with me as I get back into the world of giving/receiving critique): 1. Nice color and skin tone. The dark brown stripe (I think it's where a piece of the white garage door is missing)… -
Re: Depth of Field
my .01 cent opinion ( adjusted for inflation of neurons ) get out of "p" mode and use manual ( or at least Av mode ).... use more wide open apertures for isolation of subjects ( shallow DOF ) and more closed down apertures for wide DOF. Want a nice "bird" shot with great bokeh - get out your telephoto lens and use a more… -
Re: Moving on Up
I have the XTi (400D), which is a little less capable than the 450d, and I can tell you that the camera is plenty good enough that you will notice the difference between good lenses and cheaper ones. I have owned both the EF 50mm macro and the EF-S 60 mm macro. They are both fine, but the EF-S 60 is far better--a true 1:1… -
Re: Nikon 35mm v. 50mm - Which one???
I have both the AF-S 35mm f/1.8G and AF 50mm f/1.8D. I like both, but as others have mentioned, the 35 is more of a "normal" or "standard" lens on your D300 vs. the mild telephoto FOV that the 50 gives you. I like having the option of either lens, and while we used to use the 35 a lot, it's now used less since I got the… -
Re: Just One
Kelly, Mine is a Yashica Mat 124G. Yashica had a long affair with twin lens reflex cameras, but this was the last model in production. They are readily available on EBAY. I paid $124 shipped for mine, and bought a $10 kit to replace the light seals. The foam rubber was badly deteriorated into a gooey mess, but the guy I… -
Re: First Post and some pics
Hi there Hollynla and welcome to Dgrin-don't forget to enter Andy's 'Lurker Challenge' details are in the "De-lurk yourselves" thread I'm just not sure where that is at the moment.... anyway.... First shot: Lovely girl, lovely expression, well caugth portrait indeed. Even the off-center composition works (for me anyway) in… -
Re: Cant decide on a birthday gift for myself.
I want the buttery smooth bokeh that the 105 DC (defocus control) gives.. I dont want a Macro lens which is what the 2.8 vr is. I shoot with a D700 gripped and a 50mm f/1.4G.. so, I shoot FX and already have an amazing 50mm that works well. I dont want a jack of all trades/walk around lens. I want something with a little…
