Re: f2.8 Lens Opinions?
yes goldenballs you are right as far as you go. but it goes further. when it comes to any highend tech, the manufacturer and user are a partnership. both rely on each other through realworld use feedback and the R&D which that drives for the furtherance of their endeavours, dm's and Matt's excellent discussion mean that… -
Re: Danceworks!, Concerts - Recent Work
well...im not sure if you're shooting raw or not, but the biggest problem i have is usually white balance. the guy who does the lighting for all the stuff at my school tends to use a lot of gels over the lights, so i end up with either too much red or yellow most of the time. usually i have to tune the wb down much cooler… -
Re: Wedding - July 26, 2008 (9 images)
You're right - it was worth the wait to get such glowing compliements on this bit of work. :D I've been working with "my" groups, trying to figure out how to get them to loosen up a bit. Things are starting to come together a bit. The door handle - yup know all about it. I struggled a long time trying to get rid of it and… -

Re: What's the sharpest lens you own?
Hello happysmileylady, a Fellow Hoosier!! I think almost all lenses are pretty sharp if used at their best aperture, with good technique. I have several very nice lenses from Canon, Sigma, Tamron, Zeiss, and if I do my job, they rarely let me down in terms of sharpness. Composition, exposure, focus, use of tripod, those… -
Re: Help in choosing camera and lenses.
1. it is not the camera but the whole system that i am really confused about. The 30D costs about more than a D70 and less than a D200. I assume Nikon's new D-SLR will be a more direct competitor of the 30D. Also I am comparing a body+2 zooms+fast-prime+flash combo. For me the Canon's (30D) advantage is that it can use my… -
Re: the nikkor 105mm f/2 DC lens..what's teh story here?
It's Nikon's voodoo, techno-jargon way of making up for not being able to match Canon's bokeh. :-P Okay but seriously, that *kinda* sums it up. Canon enlarged their mount so they can cram as much glass as they please into their lenses, making both an 85 1.2 and a 50 1.2 that have truly gorgeous bokeh. They also make a… -
Re: Arizona, Utah Photo Trip - Advice Needed
Dale, An RT is a great bike, but most would prefer to avoid much gravel with it. I think you can get it up Moley Dugway, it is mostly paved after a fashion, but it may have degraded since I was there last as well. The road to Muley Point, however, is dirt and sand so..... For Antelope Canyon I would go with the 18-200.… -
Re: Easy & Cheap ways to protect gear in the rain?
I have my way to deal with the topical rain and bad weather in South East Asia where the rain storm can come within a minute with downpour of 4-5 inches water in an hour. 1. Use the camera and lens with weather seal such as the 5D and 24-105 or the 70-200 F2.8 2. Lowepro topload AW 70 with the Chest Harness to secure in…
