Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
Processor IS upgradable, just not "authorized":D I'm waiting for the Mac midtower with one Intel quad processor. The price has come WAY down. Gateway starts the quad core (single chip) at about $950 now. A 2.4 quad, with 2bg ram, 400gb HD, nVidia 8500 or 8600GT, dual layer drive and 24 inch monitor is $1500. Now if it only… -

Pathfinder- Only nit with the Verizon version is that you cannot talk and surf at same time - that goes for LTE as well. That is not a huge problem but, nice to be able to do on those occasions when you want it. If the network around you favors Verizon, I would go with them. We actually get better reception with ATT in… -

Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
My advice: do not get a G5. Get an Intel iMac. G5 will not run Windows, and in switching, having the ability to run windows in the iMac is a huge benefit/relief. The G5s are PowerPC based. All the new macs are Intel based. I have no experience with the PowerPC machines, but am told the Intel ones are far faster. Check our… -

Beeping sound on video recording My daughter is trying to use the internal microphone and the isight on a white imac 24 to record a video. When she uses imovie HD to play it back, the audio contains a high frequency and pitch 'beep beep beep' for the length of the track, but you can still hear the underlying audio. You can… -
Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
Hello Apple Peoples- So I just tried my first trip without my MacBook Pro and only using the iPad2. I have the camera connector kit so I was able to view the images I shot. What I was not able to figure out how to do was how to backup to the cloud the full size/original files. Has anyone found a good solution for that? I… -

iMac luminance Hi guys. My apologies if this has already been discussed. Feel free to redirect me to the proper thread. My calibration prints turned out too dark and I am in the process of calibrating my iMac 24" LCD monitor with an i1 display 2. However I cannot get the luminance down to the recommended value of 120. Not… -

mac book or mac book pro? I'm buying a mac book but am having a very difficult time deciding if I need the pro or not. I would love to hear other opinions and suggestions as well as explanations why. I am also buying the 24"Cinema Display. If I go non pro I would be looking at 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB, 320GB Drive. I… -
Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
OK so my Mac is a refurbished model, and arrived with OS X 10.4 installed. It also shipped with a Leopard disk..10.5. So naturally, I put the Leopard disk in and went ahead with the upgrade, first thing. I haven't done much to configure the Mac yet, but I have put Lightroom on it (this 24" IPS monitor ROCKS!) and my…
