Re: Transoxania (Uzbekistan)
But I digress.... Back to the Topic at Hand, that is to say, our trip. To the Aral.... AND BEYOND! I had meticulously planned our trip, even making a little calendar marking where we would be and having pictures of the moon phases for night photography. Our first planned action was to fly from Tashkent way out west to… -
Re: You Own The Negatives
I haven't been at this very long but I have come to the realization that my images, once they have been distributed to the client are essentially worthless. First off, I shoot mostly video but I think that is similar in relation to this topic. If you are still shooting film or negatives your original work product still has… -
Re: Lenses how to find one.
I've been immersed in photography for some 45+ years. It has been my craft and my trade. Lens reviews and lens study has been a large part of my life, making me something of a living database. Some generalities: As a rule, most Vivitar lenses are junk, purely and simply not worth your time. Exceptions are a few of the… -
Adventure in Mallorca, Spain (Big Writeup)
I feel like I should apologize because this post is going to be really big. I have spent the last 9 days in Mallorca and island off the Iberian Peninsula belonging to Spain. The island is considered a Mecca of deep water soloing which they call Psicobloc. Recently what is possibly one of the hardest routes in the world was… -
Re: Canon's new 30D
I'll take a stab at this I will play nice I promise :D .... First off, this really isn't about Nikon vs Canon. It's really about *my* choice vs *your choice*. You could substitute Ford vs Chevy, Remington vs Browning, whatever, it's the same-my choice vs your choice OR my *needs* vs your *needs*. If I can figure out how to… -
Re: Bulk Edit EXIF
The exif tool from libexif is capable of setting values, however it does seem to also dork with some other stuff, so it's not a clean "just change these bytes and no others" opperation. Namely on my images it mucks around with the Maker Note and User Comment portions. That at least works on my jpgs, it isn't capable of… -
Re: First Nikon Portrait Shoot
Thanks again everyone! Qarik... interesting. I saw the milk mustache when I was shooting and was undecided about whether I wanted it left on. I decided that it could always be removed. I'm still undecided whether I want to. He came with the milk mustache, and it's who he was that day. I did remove it on some of them,… -
>>> LPS#9 Feedback Thread
I mentioned this before, but I was very impressed at the creativity and thought that went into the entries this round. Bravo to you all. The progress and talent is becoming very evident. And to think, we are only about half way through this contest! At long last my feedback is done, thank you for your patience... Post# -… -
>>> LPS#10 Feedback thread
This is getting harder, I selected 34 photos the first time through. And the last pass was hardest of all. Really nice work in getting the idea of Surf or Turf across to the viewer. One word of warning though, many are slipping back to using the theme words in the title: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=67646 It is… -
Re: LPS#6 Feedback thread
This is my feedback list In general, this was the hardest one yet to judge as I pulled out many photos on my first pass. But I was disappointed to see so few people photos. The curvy theme was just begging for it. And seeing as how the top point getter was a people shot, don't discount that in the future. And now on to the…
