Re: Does it really matter....
On lenses J: Keep in mind that the D40 can't use all of the same lenses that are available to the others. It's restricted to AF-S lenses (which eliminates almost all of the fast wide, normal, and mid-telephoto primes). H: Here's a recent list (not compiled by me)... From Nikon: WIDE-ANGLE -AF 10.5mm f/2.8G ED . . . $… -
Re: Dell has released two new IPS monitors
Yes, this was about 3 or 4 years ago. Dell & HP were both caught but way more mud was thrown at Dell and less so at HP. Both companies had a 20" 4:3 monitor (the 2007FP and LP2065) that came to market with a similar S-IPS panel. Later production units of the Dell were supplied with S-PVA panels and HP subbed A-MVA panels.… -
Re: Computer Monitor vs. TV.
re Calibrate for accurate color? Maybe, maybe not. I struggle to get our households' Samsung TN panel monitor to look reasonable where with my Samsung PVA panel I have no issues. ............... Most Samsung 23" units use a 6bit TN TFT LCD panel. One model, the F2380, uses a c-PVA panel. In terms of image quality for photo… -
Re: Glass question to all you wedding pros
I would highly recommend NOT using any sort of added tubes for macro / close ups for weddings...time is a premium and people, at least here in my area, hate to see you changing lenses.....My solution has always been to shoot with the Sigma Line up of 24-70 and 70-200 (mine was a 210) f2.8....I have never had anything but… -
Another Home Brew- Intel Core i7 PC Build
Jeff has posted his build photos for his killer computer so I figured I should do the same. But first, do you know how long it takes to open three Canon 50D RAW files in LR 2.3, apply some global adjustments, and then open them all up in Photoshop CS3 when you have an AMD 4600+ running at something like 1.8GHz and a… -

Re: Advice 4 Laptop, Please
HP Elitebook 8740 or Lenovo X220 You don't mention a $$$ budget. If you want a real solid true photo workhorse look to the HP Elitebook 8740 or 8540 as they feature an optional Dreamcolor II IPS tft panel in their screen. Re: Wow! I need a new monitor!
Don't bother - a 6bit "TN" panel, suspect sRGB coverage, viewing angle issues Not too bad a choice but be aware that it is a "Wide Gamut" monitor. Do you work in the AdobeRGB or ProPhotoRGB color spaces? If you don't, then stick to a standard sRGB color space monitor. Your life will be a lot simpler and less stressful.… -
